Tornado watch is over and all is well here! For now, anyways...
The storm seemed to hit a wall just west of us and never moved in but it still might, later on.
Doc is still on his week off but the boot truck will be there tomorrow so we've decided to make a day of it and go do some sight-seeing. We're going to head into Ash Flat, then shoot over to Mountain Home. We've been wanting to visit there since moving out here. Did I mention they have a Home Depot AND Lowe's???
We'll spend some time there, then head down to Melbourne to catch the boot truck (doc gets 1 pair of work boots on the company's dime, a year). We'll probably take Bub along as it's supposed to be cooler and rainy. We're hoping he'll get a chance to visit with his original owners as they both work for the same company as doc.
I've got the camera battery charging as it should be a gorgeous ride, all the way around Robin Hood's barn, since that's the route we're taking.
Well, gonna close this and will see y'all some time tomorrow evening.
I've been over to Moutain Home...weird place...no black people to be seen for MILES. Living close to Memphis, that's just the strangest thing to me. I never knew there were still places like that It was a pretty area. I went swimming at the old rock quarry...can't remember why I even went. I was young, went on a motorcycle with the ex husband thing, trip home in pouring down rain was miserable! anyway..enough of my rambling Have FUN!!!!!!!!!!!
I've heard it as Murphy's barn. I used that expression once w/someone totally unfamiliar w/it. They had given me some directions. And the directions went all over the place! I mentioned that going that way was going around Murphy's barn and they said, yeah, there is a barn out there.
Thank you for all the rain, dl...it was bound to be your fault!
The system made it to our place in the wee hours of the morning and lasted all day...we were glad we weren't home and were traveling mostly in the area that it had left all day.
Got some pix but most of the scenery shots aren't as good as they could be...the Buick is like riding in a go-cart and I'm pretty sure that I've got road rash on my rear!
We had a great trip and liked the way Mountain Home was set-up, it was easy to get around. Lowe's and Home Depot are practically next door to one another...talk about convenient and we went to both. We hadn't been to Lowe's since we left TN!
We also went to Petco. We do our darnedest to support the mom & pop shops but we looked up pet shops in Mountain Home online, out of curiosity, and Petco was listed as a Kent dealer (NO, no the Superman Kent...the aquarium equipment kind of Kent) and it was right there with Lowe's and HD. We found a management-type guy and asked him about RO/DI replacement canisters and we got the "deer in the headlights" look. Got "that look" again when doc told him that they were listed as a Kent dealer. While he went to look up what we were asking for, we talked ourselves into buying two sprigs of Lace-leaf Java Fern for the fresh water 60 gallon hexagon tank, a new 5 gallon bucket of Sea Salt Mix for our 38 gallon reef tank and also a small anemone (dude had no idea what it was and sold it to us for $13.00...we got a steal-of-a-deal on that) and an Emerald Crab for the reef.
Headed to south Melbourne and had no problem until the one roads we were supposed to take had a detour and we got over the immediate "now what" when we saw a sign for Calico Rock.
Bubba had a blast and is pretty sure that he's the luckiest dog in the world...got to mark 3 counties and was driven to those spots! He got to see his other folks and they were thrilled to see him and couldn't get over how big he is. He also made plenty of new human friends since they were between shifts. He's glad to be finally home (after a quick trip to mom's to drop of the stuff for the tanks) and he's so tired that I just snuck in a pic of him using his food bowl as a pillow.
Well, about time to get to bed myself, will post more of our big adventure after we get home from our civilized visit at mom's, later today!
I have been busy playing catch-up around here after 2 days in a row away from home. Yay, my favorite game!
Still trying to figure out my computer problem so pix are taking longer, and it helps that I'm taking many...it's changing constantly here as new plants emerge and the trees green out!
Some pix from the beginning of our greening up and burning small stumps in the future berry section of the orchard:
Will get albums from our Mountain Home to Melbourne trip and random around the yard pix posted this evening!
Well, I'm need to get back outside and get started on putting up the temporary fence around the berry section of orchard to keep the chickens out as the currants, josta, goji and gooseberries have shallow root systems and I know they'll terrorize them the minute I get them planted!
