It can be very hard to find anyone to do stalls, so I'm not really worried. And, if she lets me go early, I'm not going to sweat it. Today showed me for sure that I need to get out. I wanted to really work w/Misty, but my leg just hurt too much. I got her into a canter, and had trouble staying in the saddle because of it. :(

In other news, I called KN when I was ready to leave the house only to find out that she had called on my cell and left a voice mail. RU took her and the battery over to the dealer, so I didn't need to go. So, that meant I got to visit w/my sister for longer than I would have been able to.

Right now, I'm in my tack shed. For the first time ever, both cats came into the tack shed at the same time and didn't try to leave. They were united by a common enemy-CL's dogs, all 6 (yes 6) of them. They are both still in here, Rerun is growling, but Cindy isn't-she's loving on me. I'm getting ready to go to bed. I think my hubby is starting to learn that on Saturdays, I'm spending the night. here. Means I don't have to go home after feeding the horses, so it saves me some money. :D

I had to let Cindy out last night. She just wouldn't settle. And, every time I started to fall asleep, she'd be doing something else that kept me up.

First chance I've had all day to get back on.

KN also spent the night at the farm last night. And, she didn't bring anything w/her for breakfast. Plus, her hubby dropped her off, so she couldn't go home and get something. So, we went out for breakfast. At least she paid. I then had just enough time to feed the horses, cats and chickens, get home, get a shower and get to church on time. Don't want to be like OFG, and be late.

After church, I came home and got a bite to eat. Then, I took a 15 minute nap and fed the goats and bunnies B4 heading back out to the farm. Gave Stormy his 2nd feeding, put out some hay and fed the chickens. Had another bite to ea, then, KN and I headed out. We got to the DMV, and she practiced her riding skills. I measured everything out, and drew diagrams so she can practice in an empty parking lot. On the way back, we stopped. I had to get a card, then I went to the bank, and got some money.

Once back at the farm, I gave the horses some more hay, fed the cats, got changed and went to a graduation party. From there, I went to church. Then, I was finally able to go home to (hopefully) relax.

Last night, I actually got a good night's sleep. I feel really rested for the first time in awhile. So, I should be able to get a lot done today!

One thing I hope to do is get rid of some stuff in my tack shed. RU finally got the tack area set up for CL. So that means that KN and PH have the area that CL did have for their stuff. So, I can get rid of all of KN's stuff that's in my tack shed! Plus, hopefully, she'll get rid of a bunch of other stuff she has around. And, I should be able to get a lot of my pasture cleaned again.

While I didn't get to my tack shed, I did get other stuff done. And, I think I'm going to wait until Monday to get it cleaned out. But, I did get some of my pasture cleaned up. And, I got some dishes and laundry done, and I got more of my garden ready! I may actually be able to get some stuff in it, just hope I can get it to grow!

Tomorrow I'm going to take another step towards self sufficiency. I have 2 roosters that are way over due for processing. First I didn't know how to do the deed. So I learned how. But, I didn't have a killing cone. I looked on BYC for how to build one, and got what I needed. But, I needed to make it. I kept putting it off and putting it off. I'll admit to being a bit nervous about actually doing the deed. After all, all I've killed are fish and bugs. But, I told everyone that I was going to do it, so now, I HAVE to. I told my hubby, and he actually made the cone for me. So, tomorrow, I'll be doing it.

Just make them dead fast and the rest is actually pretty easy. I'll be waiting for the report.

DD it's alot like cleaning a fish, except the head removal is MUCH easier! It's definately easier to pluck than it is to skin a catfish  The first one I killed, I skinned it out instead of plucking though, because I kept tearing the skin dry plucking. I had no way to scald it so I improvised. It's not that bad really if you kill it quick.

Oh its easy. Just do it quick and its fine. Its just the anxiety thats worse. I had NEVER killed anything or wanted to then I got a rooster who I wanted to replace. I just did it and we ate him and he was tasty :drool

I dont use cones either. I have a log and a hatchet and we rock n roll with that.

Skinning is much better as well! Its quicker and you can avoid gutting very easyily by skinning.

Good Luck!

The plucking doesn't bother me, it's the actual killing! After all, I've been known to catch a bug in my house, and let it out. :hide
