I wish you guys were close enough to have come w/me! Those bales are heavier than what I'm used to. Talk about a deal! I had to pick up the bales from out of the field and load them on my truck. I left one-it was too heavy. It would have been fine on the bottom, but there was no way I was going to stack it higher than that! And, I didn't wear gloves. I haven't needed them for anything I've bought at the hay auction, so it never even crossed my mind. (Note to self, find gloves B4 tomorrow!)

I had to stop at home B4 heading out to the farm. There was one bale that I was keeping an eye on. It just didn't look secure. Well, it wasn't. I had just turned onto my street when it fell off. The only place I had that I could put it was on the hood of my truck. So, that's what I did. When I got home, I put it in my hay shelter for now. I fed the animals, did a couple of things for hubby, then went to the farm.

When I got there, I realized that I had lost another bale. :hit But, there wasn't anything I could do about it right then. I had hay to unload. I threw down a few bales. One came undone, so I took that right in to the horses. They had just been picking at the hay that I had given them earlier. B4 I got this hay on the ground (it was on my wagon), they started to eat it! And, other than to get a drink, they hadn't come up for air by the time I left. So yeah, they like this hay!

I got the rest of the hay unloaded and stacked. Then headed home. I kept an eye out the whole way home hoping to find that other bale. I found it! So, I threw it in the back of my truck, and put it in my hay shelter when I got home. I was going to do some more work. But, I'm beat. W/the heat, it just really zapped my energy. So, I got a shower. We haven't had dinner yet, it's cooking. (Rotisserie chicken, mashed potatoes w/giblet gravy and veggies) So, I jumped in the shower and feel much better now. So, other than what I have to do to get dinner done, I'll be spending the rest of my evening relaxing on here.

Wow, I'd like to watch you work some day just to see how you accomplish all that stuff.

I remember one time I was following a truck with a bunch of hay bales thrown on a bit haphazardly. One was dangling, dangling, dangling, and finally, PLOP! it lands on the ground in front of me. I saw it fall and had plenty of time to swerve around it, but when I got up to the intersection, I had to be in the left hand lane so I rolled down my window when I was even with the truck and say, "Heh, did you know you lost a bale back there?"

It is a man with a big belly and he looks over at me irritated and says, "What in the he// do you want me to do about it?" in a real grouchy tone.

I just used the window closer and looked straight ahead. :hide

Have you read my journal today...I'm in a race with time  Racing to get insurance specifications taken care of on the farm, and racing to get DD's room transformed into something liveable BEFORE she gets home, plus working several jobs this week. :th I swear I dunno how the crap you run like this all the dang time!!!
In the immortal words of Benjamin Franklin, "Three moves is the same as a fire". Tell that to DD WBF...Maybe she'll get the "message". :barnie

DD, I thought I was busy...as the other one says "you wear me out". What kind of bike? Here I was picturing a Schwinn 10 speed racer and then you said MC helmet...I am picturing you with the helmet on the Schwinn... :gig (I offered to take DD out on my 1994 HD FXDL one day and she said " I have to go change my clothes...I don't want to look "dorky". I just told her..."You CAN'T look Dorky on a HD...it just doesn't happen!" :clap

Personally, I would have answered "Go back and pick it up you fat SOB" but then I have a CCW permit. :gig

He'd have been more interested if you reported him to the State Patrol and they cited him for it! He should have been able to go get that because if it had hit your windscreen and you swerved into an oncomming car, the whole day could have been seriously ruined!

I have a 2005 Buell Blast. I got it when the gas prices were so high 3 years ago. I got it for super cheap. It was 3 yo, but brand new. It wasn't moving, so they made me a good deal on it. I've put over 6000 miles on it so far. I'm taking it every day I'm not fighting vertigo, I don't need my truck, and the weather's nice. I figure I'll put several more miles on it this summer.

I actually got almost everything done that I wanted to do today! The only thing I didn't do was as much in the garden. I have GOT to get that done. I haven't planted anything yet! It was so wet earlier that I couldn't plant anything. But of course, that meant that the weeds took over. So, I'm trying to get rid of them so I can plant it.

I also got 30 more bales of hay. I don't blame the horses for liking it. If I was a horse, I'd eat it too! It smells wonderful. The stuff that they weren't eating, I took home. The goats seem to like it, and I had less than 1/2 a bale for them. But, B4 I could put it in my hay shelter, I needed to clean it out. We're under a severe thunderstorm watch. So first I just got done enough of it to put the hay in. Once it was in, I went ahead and cleaned the rest of it out. My hay shelter is just one of these portable garages. I got it at Harbor Freight. The cover started to rip awhile back, so I just covered it w/a cheap tarp. The tarp has held up better than the regular cover. The cover didn't even last 2 years. (It was on it's 2nd year when it started to rip) The tarp has been on there for almost 2 years now, and it's fine. But over this past winter, the cover went completely. So, I got that off and tossed it.

Oh, and today was another scorcher. According to my thermometer, it got up to 102 today! I must have drunk at least a gallon of water! I honestly think I could have just stood next to any plants that needed watering, and just sweated over them. As long as it wasn't too salty, I'm sure they would have been well watered!

boy I wish I could find hay for $2.50!! Even in the field here it is at least $3.50 if not $4 and that is for weedy brambled up hay. I got hay from the foster group this past fall and it was wonderful hay. I'll be checking with them to see where they get it this year.

Every once in awhile, my husband does something that totally surprises me. Today was one of those days. I had told him B4, and reminded him this morning that I'd be working on my fence. And I also told him that once I got started, I could not stop until I was done. I had to take down the fence that ran along the road. I was so needing to have that done. There was one place that had been fixed temporarily w/a cattle panel. Well, at some point in time, some horse had messed it up, and it was sticking into the field. I had taken baling twine and pulled it tight to the fence the best I could, but I was still worried about it.

I'm not sure what time it was that I was finally able to get started. I got done work a bit early today, and went right to the insurance agent. My hubby insisted that I had no insurance on the bike. Well, I do, but I did have a payment due, so I paid it. Then I talked for a bit. I was thinking about leaving when I got a call from KN. She wanted to know when I was going to get to the farm cuz she had something to show me, and couldn't stay long. So, I went over. She's gotten her permit for a motorcycle! I don't know about other states, but in Jersey, you need a motorcycle license to run a scooter, and she's decided to get one. She took her written test today, and passed. She's getting her scooter tomorrow, and will be taking her road test later on in the month. I'm so glad. That means I won't be stuck feeding all the horses this summer like I was last year.

Once she left, I ran out to get some lunch. I had nothing w/me but some water and graham crackers. So, I got a ham and Swiss hoagie, then back to the farm. I ate half of it, and got to work. Honey and Licorice were put in the riding arena, and Misty and Stormy were left loose in the parking area. By 3:45, I had almost all of the fence down. I talked to hubby on the cell, he wanted to know how long I was going to be. I guessed and told him 5, 6:00. I worked for a bit more, then took a break and ate the rest of my hoagie. I was almost done, when what do I see pulling into the lane but my hubby's Durango! He decided to come and give me a hand.

First thing we had to do was move the gate. I had been going to hang it on the big post that was already up. Only problem being, when we checked it out, we realized the post was crooked. We positioned the gate in all kinds of ways, but none would work. So, we got the post in that it was supposed to latch to, and hung the gate on that. While my hubby was finishing that up, I took the tractor and yanked out a broken post. It was making it so I couldn't get down a cattle panel, and the fencing behind it.

W/that out, and all the fencing down, I took the tractor and went and got the new roll of fence. Much to my surprise, my hubby stayed and helped me put up the whole roll! He was able to figure out how to use the fence stretcher the proper way. And because of that, the fence is nice and tight! My job became handing him the staples.

In all probability, it took longer w/his help than it would if I had done it by myself. But, because of his help, it's probably up there better than if I had done it by myself. It was after 9:00 when we were finally able to leave. But, I feel much better about the fencing now. I still have some smaller areas to do, and I may need another small roll. But, I don't have to move the horses to do any of this, so that will make my life so much easier.
