Hubby---then he is getting a name like JackHammer or McGuyver

Nope not MY hubby. He will have an astronomy name. Our older dog is Cassiopeia (constellation) and the German Shepherd was Sirius (star). I just hope it isn't something like Betelgeuse! :gig

Well, seeing as that's pronounced Beetle Juice, you might either have people thinking of squished bugs, or the movie!

A potty training question.

Are you using a kennel to train the pup?

We keep Sage in one at night and when he is unattended, then RACE him to outdoors as soon as we open the crate.

We are also using a jingle bell to help him indicate when he needs out. With this method you hang a big jingle bell on a cord by the door at puppy height. Every time you take the pup out you ring the bell - then go out the door. This is our first attempt at this method, but trainers have told me that they learn quick to ring the bell if they need out. We shall see.

We have not had too many accidents so far (about 5 wet, 2 solid and 1 pukey after he ate a pig ear that was the big dogs :/).

Once again I shall hail the praises of old hardwood floors!

Lets have a pissing contest

I had him 7 days and had about 7 pees and 1 poop inside and thank goodness most were on the hardwood floor. 3 of those pees were carpet and I think that is why I am going insane ya know. Hardwood is so easy to clean. that carpet just freaks me out..hahaha

that bell thing sounds interesting. I do have a bell I can hang. after I get off I am going to start doing it and see if "lil'l stupid" can figure it out. Would be real cool if he would train that way.
hey worth a shot. I will try it.

yes he sleeps in a crate at night. outside at 11-12 pm last call....then just like you---race right from crate to outside in the morning.
we must be nuts? :gig

Most certainly we ARE nuts. We hang out here on SS .. that proves it!

When you get a piddle on the carpet (especially) be sure to pepper it. Sprinkle fine grind black pepper on the spot and fluff it down into the nap of the rug. Next time pup goes sniffing for a likely spot - POW a nose full of pepper!
