Sorry things are rough for you and your dh. It will smooth over soon. :hugs

Not to sound dumb but what's with the Blue law? Alcohol sale restrictions??

gina
Yeah ,no alcohol sales on Sunday. I'll be fine. I do have one bottle of GF beer and my homemade limoncello. I was just thinking it was a good night for a nice bottle of wine to have under my awning as I listened to the rain.
Talked to DH a few minutes ago. He was headed home. So he should be here about 10:30 if the rain doesn't slow him down. He couldn't talk much but did say his mother was looking into Dial-A-Ride type services and was interested to hear about the grocery store that delivers. I suspect they will still expect DH to come down on the weekends for a while. At least they know they can get where they need to go if he can't be there during the week.

Have a slug of vanilla extract in some of Donki's milk, honey, and don't worry about it. It is medicinal. :hugs

Why do you think I am on a liqueur and wine-making kick lately? :p

By the way, today we stopped at a beer and winemaking supply place in ....um....East Hartford, I think...or Hartford....it was right off the highway. It just changed ownership less than two months ago and was not opened and under construction, and the guy with the power saw outside saw us looking and insisted that we come in! We had a great time, picking our way through construction debris and talking to the new owner. The prices are half or less than what I've paid elsewhere for the same stuff!!!!! One owner does everything with sulfites and such, and the other, not there today, is a massage therapist like me and dh and does stuff without chemicals. I can't wait to go in and meet him. www.brew-wine.com site still under construction, they will be cataloging most stuff and putting it on the site over the next weeks/months.

It's gonna be a long haul. Start making your own booze now for winter libations! :D
I will be, believe me! I love love love the limoncello I made. I'll be looking for more to make. We have this cool little general store kind of place here. They have all kinds of beer making supplies and natural health stuff. Ah, who knew? They have a web page of sorts!
http://pillowcrafters.com/champlions.html

Now I'm off to check out Free's link!! Ooooh! I can be there in about 35 minutes!! I'll meet ya there!!!
We need a new thread: What Hen's Going to Be Brewing This Winter!!

Wow lady, you have had a LOT going on! Glad FIL is home, hope he recuperates quickly. :hugs
Me too!! It's about as bad as we expected it would be. I don't think we'd realized how dependent on FIL MIL had become. FIL is so tired and weak that he can't pay the bills. MIL has no clue HOW! She doesn't understand his filing system. He is not quite with it enough yet to explain it all. Ugh. I hope to never become like this!
She is slowly accepting that their way of life will have to change. She realizes she will have to rely on other means of transportation since she won't drive. She was open to the idea of grocery delivery. FIL is currently ticked at the world. He is mad that he can't do what he wants because he's just too exhausted. That will improve. The doctors feel his responding well to the meds he's on and should be almost 100% in about 2 months. It's the timing that's lousy. DH really needs to be getting ready for the new job and his parents just assume that he's going to spend every weekend down there. Even if it's just a few hours of a visit. Well, that's 5 hours or more on the road!
Need to stop venting about it. He has to deal with it. SIL is not leaving until Wednesday. DH is going down either Friday afternoon to Saturday morning or all day Saturday. It's our church picnic and he's upset about missing it. I'm suggesting he leave Friday after work and stay until about 1pm Saturday so he'll be home to go to the picnic with us at 3. We'll see!

I'm trying but that's going to be the tough part. He has a really hard time saying no to his parents. What this past weekend boiled down to was his parents', especially his father's, belief that since it was the weekend DH's priority was to be with them. Never mind he'd spent part of the week with them and SIL was with them and DH is not prepared to teach his new courses, etc. So he is going to have to be tough when the time comes that he can't get down there to just visit. He will go down this Friday afternoon and stay until late Saturday morning. I persuaded them to let him install a screw in hand rail rather than the suction cup one they wanted. When I called the medical pharmacy locally and they told me they refuse to sell them due to liability issues, that did the trick. But when DH got a screw in one and went to install it, he discovered FIL didn't have a masonry bit the right size. Since DH didn't know he'd be screwing something into the wall until he got there, he didn't bring his own. So he'll go back. However, he is leaving in time to make to our church picnic. DS really needs to spend some time with him too. He is going to melt down when we tell him Daddy is going back to NY for another weekend day. He isn't doing a great job of understanding but that is partly our fault since we didn't tell him how sick FIL really was.

It is 60, breezy and cloudy here today. The goats are loving it. Even Donki is capering about the pen. I've got the computer room looking pretty good finally. A few more piles to sort through but much of that is DH's stuff. DS's desk in here is clean and ready for HOMEWORK. I'm working on sorting out my Cub Scout stuff. I've got my school stuff packed into boxes, one for each school, and ready for the car. I think I'm going in on Friday. That's a vent for later. I hate sharing space with someone who doesn't understand the concept of sharing space completely. I won't be paid for my time and DS will have to come along but it may be in my best interest to be there. And so it begins....

Would it be good for ds to go with dh for a weekend? For some kids, it would be a great lesson in caring for family responsibilities. On how to care for you two one day!

Um, you will both probably get burnt out. Just sayin', voice of experience. Start getting massage regularly. Hey, how far is Newington? You could come get student massages from my class on Saturday. It is only $30, and ds could, too. You'd need to sign up fast, as once the scheduling opens (online, e-mail notification, I have nothing to do with it) the schedule fills up fast, often within hours.

Some people get two in a row on the same day!

I took some pictures of Dorian today, hoping to post them later on! He is a cute little pain in the patoot! The girls are starting to fall in love with him. You'll see in the pics. ;)

Tempting! Newington is about an hour. But my naturopath did just "prescribe" massage. It will have to wait until after school starts (that whole paycheck thing....) but definitely interesting! Feel "Free" to pm the details! I've been having some lower back pain and after a workout yesterday, shoulder pain as well. I may be visiting DH's chiropractor soon. I need to clean the barn but I'm waiting 'til DH gets home so I don't have to make it worse.
We'll send DS with DH in a couple of weeks for sure. He loves his grandparents but I think they're too overwhelmed right now to have him there. After DH makes this next visit and sees how they're doing without SIL there, we can get a feel for how they'd cope with his energy.
Thanks for the ideas!

Many of the clients report that they just got the best massage ever, better than some "pro's!" I drive those students hard, as you might guess. They grumble, then many, many of them come back to thank me.

PM'ing info. You could reduce the "drive" by doing another errand, like going to WF or the brew store in Hartford. The school is 10 minutes from that blue onion dome with the stars on it on Rt 91....that is how I know if I will be on time or not! :p

LOL, you mean the Colt Building! Yeah, it's not a problem to combine errands and find a reason to be out that way. :D
