Aaaaaaaaaah! Beautiful, dry, sunny, breezy day. It's probably in the very high 70s. My idea of a perfect summer day. We're leaving for our church picnic shortly. There just happens to be an orchard between here and there. My friend called this morning and we decided to go up early and pick some of the last peaches before we head over. DH is on his way home from NY and should be here just in time to hitch a ride with her DH, meaning neither of our households ends up with 2 cars up there! Perfect, as long as DH gets here when he expects to.
I'm bring deviled eggs, made with fresh backyard eggs. Hopefully the crowd won't turn up their noses at them thinking they could be contaminated... I'd have made more but DH took a dozen eggs to his parents, who are barely eating these days. His mother was thrilled because she knows she can get his dad to eat scrambled eggs if he knows they're "my" eggs.
Church tomorrow then off to work on Monday for In-Service days. Students (and DS) start Wednesday. The bus schedule has been republished so I got to see it with my own eyes. There's a chance I may be able to arrange my schedule so that I can put him on the bus every morning! That would be great. I will be able to do it at least 2 mornings a week for sure. He'll have to go to After School program when he isn't involved in a club. Good way to make some new friends!
Oh, and the cable box spontaneously started working again after being dead for 3 days.

Well, back to work tomorrow. We start at 8am with a district-wide meeting. That should be uplifting considering our budget has been voted down 4 times, our Superintendent has bailed and we only have an interim filling in as far as I know. I know I won't be able to sleep tonight, because I never can. It's also going to be beastly hot all week. Lovely. Waaaaah!
Off to make lunch, find clothes that fit, aren't too warm, too dressy or too casual. I'm sure we'll be organizing and cleaning in the HS office that never got cleaned or organized in the Spring. sigh.....

Despite a heat wave, DS is off to a great start. He loves the new school, has made a new friend. So far so good. No great demands yet however. We shall see. It has been in the mid to high 90s for the first two days of school. Unbearable at the high school where I was today. I'm on the second floor in a small, windowless office. It was rough!
DH missed his second day at his new job today. He has an infection in the bottom of his foot. I'll spare the details but it got bad enough that he got really sick last night. He's gone to the walk-in because our doctor's office couldn't get him in until Tuesday. I'm sorry, but green stuff oozing from a wound on the bottom of a foot does not warrant a wait until Tuesday!!! He kept the appointment because the walkin doc wants him to follow up after being on anti biotics over the weekend. Not sure what's going on, just that it appears to be fungal and it's not Athlete's Foot. Lovely!

Awww, so cute! Reminds me of Opie!

Poor dh, it must really be bad if he missed the second day of a new job. Sounds awful. Hope the meds kick in REALLY soon.

 You're right!!! In the full length shots he looks like a mailman with his black socks. I found him some ankle height ones so it's better now.

That boy has the sweetest eyes! :love
Thanks! He has a good heart! Sweet 99.999999% of the time. He's been taking care of Daddy in little ways. It's too cute!
DH is feeling much better already. Cleaning the wound seems to have helped the burning and pain and the meds are starting to work. His appetite has returned. Yay!

What a sweetie! You boy is truly adorable :thumbsup

My son is a t a new school too. High school :clap

He is L O V I N G it!

They are taking a bit of an unschooling approach to clear the kids heads of all thier negatives about school. Today his physics teacher told them 'you are about to do something that you have never done in school before!'They pushed the desks to the perimeter of the room, opened up the wall/partition between them and the humanities classroom and had two teams for marshmallow dodgeball. Gotta love it!

Change is good, I hope your handsome little guy thrives this year...he certainly deserves it after LAST year!

I feel for you starting a rough new school year. So far with the budget cuts and reassignments it has been a doozy of a year for us. :/

Some one mentioned the other day that it was the third week of school and it seemed so impossible I actually had to go look it up. :th

We have a day off Monday for Labor Day then some smarty had to go and count and figure out that we don't have another break of any kind for EIGHT weeks. In a normal year that might not be too bad, but given the circumstances that news was very disheartening to us all.

On the flip side of the coin we only have 15 days left until we receive a paycheck ... the first one since June! A steady paycheck will be MOST appreciated.

So sorry to hear about your hubby not feeling well. I bet with all of the things that have been going on with parents and changing jobs STRESS is 99% to blame. Tell him to take it easy as possible.

Pics are WAY cute, but YOU already knew that! ;) :D

Your DS is so adorable. (Don't tell him I said adorable) Ummm.... tell him I said manly. It almost makes me miss having children at home.

Hope your DH gets better soon. Sounds like a really painful wound.
