We had fun. It was crowded but not overly loud. The first band did Beatles songs. They were pretty good but that's all they did. The next band did more folksy stuff. They were fun. The third band was not my thing. We tried to hang on for the final band since a few of our friends are in that one too but I didn't have it in me. We were home by 11:00. It was near 0 by then and about -10 when we got up this morning. I tip toed down to check on the animals last night and they were all fine, snuggled together.
Today was our annual meeting at church. Nothing new or exciting. Then we had a big pot luck meal. Lots of GF stuff since several of us are. Not a whole lot of low carb but I did okay. Brought my own dressing and had a big helping of salad.
Wondering if we might have a delay tomorrow since we may see record breaking cold temps. I hate it when it's this cold. I think DH worries everytime I go to the barn that I'm going to try to sneak a goat back in the house with me.....

Glad you enjoyed the Function!!!

Also love pot lucks when lots of folk are on restricted diets.

The SCA (Medieval group) in northern colorado always offers GF and low carb options as nearly half of the long term members are diabetic and/or gluten intolerant.

:D I have to cook for a group again on Saturday. We're having the Adult Pinewood Derby for Cub Scout leaders and parents. We make our own cars so that we don't get tempted to work on our boys' cars for them... anyway, we do a potluck. Last year I made my chunky guacamole. I think I will do a main dish this year instead. Maybe a crock of low carb soup or stew. Or a roast turkey breast.

Wow. That's really smart. Distract the parents. *approves*

I love cooking for pot lucks. Heck, I rather miss cooking for 100+ people.

They can be challenging to eat at these days for me (as they can be for you) but with a simple meat dish and some salad, my own dressing, I'm good!
Speaking of which I started doing more research on corn and all the ways it is hidden in our foods. I found a really scary website that listed so many ways corn can get in our food supply, including honey (pollen), chicken (if they eat corn). I'm going to have to talk to our Naturopath about just how strict I have to be with him.
As for the adult derby, it's also a good excuse to hang out and drink... in the basement of the Catholic school...

Yes, exactly!! LOL. Going out to eat is always an adventure :/

I'm glad I don't have food allergies, exactly. I just... fight chemicals LOL. Fiercely and with much insulin surging >.> Best to be avoided but I'm not in danger if I eat it. Unless I eat a lot and seizures go wild again.

Hm.

Anyway, it's always more fun to get drunk in church, right??

:D

Most definitely! :gig Episcopalians seem to have a reputation.. .but our priest feels that our gatherings at the church should now be dry. Liability and all that. Can't say as I blame him and I'm perfectly capable of having fun without. Some are up in arms that we don't have "The Magic Elixir" after the Christmas Eve service anymore. This stuff was STRONG! We didn't need to be drinking it and driving home late on Christmas Eve.

Yeh.... Drinking at parties never made sense to me unless you were crashing there.

Oooh, I'll take one!! Congrats!
Trying going to a gathering of southern baptists! You need a drink just to get through them, but its all fire & brimstone if you have ANYthing alcoholic to drink. Ever. :D
