I think we have all been there, done that, don't like it. But we will do it again. Their lives are never long enough.

Aw, thanks. It would be nice if better were a possibility. I'm not very hopeful right now. He aged a year in the past week. Even though he doesn't seem to be in any pain he is suddenly an old dog. He was jumping a 3 foot gate two weeks ago. And now he sleeps all day. He still gets around and still jumps up on the couch but he goes outside and has to lie down. He comes inside and has to lie down. Even if he's not seriously ill what kind of life is that?

We found a piece of plastic stuff from the bottom of a package of meat in one of the piles. I'm not entirely sure that isn't what made him vomit! Don't know where he found it. He's not getting up to eat but he sure got interested when I held out a piece of taco meat for him.
I almost posted about this, Hen...wondering if he ate something that disagreed with him. I sure hope that's all it is!!! :fl

(When my little pug started even throwing up water he just drank, I knew it was a bowel obstruction...altho I had to convince the vet. I had seen him eat some toy stuffing a few days before. :/)

Well, DH watched him poop earlier so I don't think he's completely blocked or anything. And he's been off for a full week but the plastic was only from yesterday or the day before. It wouldn't explain last Tuesday's episode. But it could explain the vomitting today for sure!

Hen, is he very old? Or just not been well for longer than just the throwing up?

I'm just getting into reading everyone's journals and haven't gone that far back yet--my apologies for not knowing the back story.

It's okay. These journals do get hard to navigate when they get long. He's almost 14 and had a stroke or seizure like episode last Tuesday morning. I took him to see a substitute vet who didn't think it was seizure because he "recovered" fairly quickly but the truth is he never was quite the same and he had another off day on Sunday which makes me suspicious that he had another event while we were at church. I would really like for our regular vet to see him before we make any rash decisions. :/

Poor puppy! Hold him tight and give him lots of love as you wait to hear what's happening with him.

I never had any pets growing up (my Dad lost a dog to poisoning when he was young and never wanted to put his kids through that) until we got our first cat 7 years ago from the shelter. She's 10 now and acts like an old lady a lot of the time, but is still pretty energetic and very healthy. I know the day will come, but I dread waking up one day to find her or our other cat ill or in pain--I can't imagine making that kind of decision although my husband has had to. Big hugs to you.

:) I've been sitting with him stroking his ears. We'll be okay one way or another. Now I'm starting to get ticked that the vet hasn't called. Must be his late night to see appts. There's no rush but I don't do patient well...
