Which I'm sure prompted the desire to grow more of your own!!
I got some seed starting supplies. Seeds are starting to arrive. I'm so psyched!!
I was ready weeks ago, finally glad to see the snow go!!!!! In the past I have always been to quick to start my seeds, now with a green house, I am holding myself down..

Grrrrrrrrrrr! So can you see the steam coming out of my ears from where you are???????
DS had not one but two classroom birthdays today. So double the gluten filled neon frosted cupcakes.... The school nurse had me make him GF/DF cupcakes for her to store in her freezer for just these occasions. At 9:00 this morning when the cupcakes came in he asked his teacher if he could go get one of his cupcakes. He was told no, not now. At snack time he was allowed to go and the substitute nurse let him take one of his cupcakes and sent him back to class. Where he sat as everyone ate their neon frosted cupcakes and he almost broke a tooth on his frozen cupcake.... OMG. So he took one of the regular cupcakes and licked the frosting off. Apparently he's not bright enough to realize with that disgusting frosting there's no way you're not going to get caught! But with 25 kids in the room the teacher and 2 paraprofessionals never caught him. I'm steaming right now. I had another talk with DS about how important it is that he stick to the plan blah blah blah. I don't feel like his teacher is taking it serious because it's not something like an anaphylactic peanut allergy ore something. I emailed the regular nurse to tell her what happened and asked her to develop a plan with me so that DS and teacher know exactly how he goes about getting a defrosted edible cupcake in time to enjoy with his class.
We knew this wouldn't be easy right???

We go to the Catholic School open house tomorrow night. DS will spend a day there soon after. Then the big decision.
I drove to Cub Scout leader training Saturday with a dad whose kids go to the school and he had great things to say about it. His kids were never in the public school though so he can't really compare the two. Still good to hear from another source that it is a good school.
I'm excited! And getting more and more annoyed with DS's teacher after Friday's cupcake incident.

You might remind them it COULD be exactly like the "an anaphylactic peanut allergy". My D2 has to carry an epi pen and ends up in the ER with life threatening anaphylactic shock if she eats ANY gluten. I would be furious as well!

I did today. Apparently the school nurse did as well. I had emailed her to let her know what had happened since she was absent that day. The teacher got miffed at me for doing so. I finally wrote to both of them saying that my child is to have no food that I didn't send in for him. This is now the second screw up and if it happens again I'm going to the administration with an official complaint. I set up the plan. DS is to go to the nurse to get a cupcake in the morning, give it to his teacher to put in a safe place to thaw and it is not to be microwaved since I don't think the frosting will survive. The plan is followed or I get ugly. DS is going to make cupcakes with me and we will find a frosting recipe that he likes. He wasn't thrilled with what I had made because it was FROZEN. Oh, teacher insists that he chose to eat his cupcake frozen because his best buddy did as well. That was correct but he had never had one that way before and she was too busy to microwave it for him when he changed his mind. There are other issues going on (like the amount of class time she spends texting....) I'm sooo looking forward to seeing the other school tomorrow night. I'll have a foot in the door if it hits the fan and I need to pull him out before the year is up. I don't want to.... but if I have to....

Just back from Catholic school open house. Sooooo wishing we'd put him there last year. We absolutely loved the 2nd grade teacher. The 3rd grade teacher was great too though. DS loved his tour and is looking forward to spending the day there next week. He'll shadow a 2nd grader for most of the day then visit with the 3rd grade for a bit in the afternoon. I think our decision is made but we'll wait till he tours to fill out paperwork.

70 degrees this weekend!!!!!
We are off to Old Sturbridge Village on Saturday for Boy Scout Day. DS is signed up for a couple of neat hands on activities. I'm looking forward to it. DH is hoping to go with us but he may need to be at school to close up after a boat safety class. It may just be DS and I. Maybe my mom too.
I've lost 13 lbs. since beginning my diet changes about 3 weeks ago. I know it will slow down but it was encouraging to see some immediate progress.
No news from DS's school. I emailed one last time reiterating the need for DS's diet to be strictly followed and that I was relying on them to be diligent about it since he feels compelled to sneak things he's not supposed to have. Short of quitting my job and attaching myself to his side what am I supposed to do??? We continue to educate him about the importance of following the plan. He is going to help me make cupcakes tonight to celebrate the 7th anniversary of his adoption. Hopefully giving him some control over choices will make it not so strict feeling.
I'm dying to get out in my garden with this weather. Hard to take that it will get cooler again.

My son is on a low carbohydrate regime. I keep finding candy wrappers in his backpack. He is autistic and isn't getting these on his own. Last time it was the bus driver.
:barnie

I can tell when he has had sugar/flour, etc... He bounces off the walls and his face breaks out :somad
