pattern and feathered feet id put MONEY on a dark bramah
we have one named phylis....phylis fluffy feet, shes a real character, the biggest in the group now shes full grown a bit of a queen bee but nothing spooks her and she lays HUGE eggs, she frequently gives us double yolkers!

pylis didnt get the white head untill she hit around a year old, she actually was the longest in the "funky young chicken" stage of growth but now shes full grown shes actually my second favorite (the speckled sussex is my favorite of our flock, followed by phylis!)

Thanks for the compliments. My girls are spoiled brats. Love them to death.

Thanks pinkfox. I think you are dead on with the dark brahma diagnosis. I cant wait for her to mature. She's definantly ugly at the moment.
Really akward and her feathers are just off. You've given me hope she will blossom.

Now if my hideous white laced red cornish will mature. She's really weird. LOL.

Spent my morning sitting outside feeding them raisens and cheerios.

yeah the brahmas are big girls and slow to mature but once they do they are, in my opinion, absolutly beautiful. always carry themsleves nice and high, tail up very strutty (ive had people tell me my brahma is a roo simply based on the way she carries herself lol...though the eggs she lays beg to differ lol)

she gives us a nice light brown (almost pink tinged) egg, the brahmas in general typically lay a large range of lighter browns :) but we get at least 2 double yolkers a month out of her and she lays a good 4-5 days a week even on double yolker weeks.
and no broodiness so far.

made my first batch of 5 gallon laundry soap.

melted one bar of fels naptha soap in a saucepan after grating it.
added 1 cup of washing soda and 1 cup of borax.

Poured all into a 5 gallon bucket.

Added hot water to the top.

stirred.

letting sit.

Just washed a load with the fresh batch before it has gelled.

smelled good and they look clean.

So it doesnt suds much at all. But the bubbles arent needed to clean.

he armpit stink in my shirts is a real problem. regular laundry soap wouldnt really clean it. sooooo. I tried a load with the homemade soap and added borax, soaked and did a smaller than usual load.

It worked. no armpit stink.

i had to do the same with regular soap. but i was paying a lot more. this is pennies....

fels naptha soap .97
washing soda 2.24
borax 2.12

And i only used a cup of each of the soda a borax.

5 gallon bucket. 1 cup per load. I'd say this was a good deal.

i would only suggest that you treat it like you would the cheaper laundry soaps. use boosters and such for your stinky stuff. pretreat too.

But its sooo much cheaper.

ANd no allergies. My hubby complained that his head bandanas broke his scalp out when he sweated in them. not anymore.

he also has filthy work clothes. I presoak and use booster. but they are clean with this just like the store brands.

Worth the twenty minutes of prep.

ok done carrying on.

Great job!!!

I make the dry powdered form of it, and I also haven't bought laundry soap for at least a year and a half. Love that it has no chemical smells in it- buying fragrance free laundry detergent is expensive! Wonder why they leave something out (scent) and jack up the price?
