Somebody please give me a good shove so I can get off the couch. I have so much to do and yet so little energy today. At least push me out into the sunshine :D

Due to the sun making an appearance, all poultry got their lights turned off today and a speech about growing some big girl feathers. I'm not running the Ritz for chickens.

I heard it's supposed to be in the 80's by Sunday. I just hope it's not humid too :sick Can't imagine how bad it's going to smell near the coop once it warms up if it doesn't dry up.

We had the official drying of the poop soup yesterday. Not fragrant.

Ah, the smell of spring in the air..........................

Hard to believe, huh? My folks live an hour north of me and we visited last weekend - their trees aren't leafed out yet but ours are. same with flowers - mine are done for this spring and theirs had just started blooming. It was like driving through 2 different seasons!

I've noticed that kind of thing too. Keljonma always gets more snow than me here south of her (is it 2 hours?).

Our apple trees and lilacs are blooming this week. Frost last night may have hurt the apples, but my trees never do very well here in the valley. :/

Pretty neat to see, the subtle differences. Our parents are about 1 hour of us and when we visited over Easter, their outdoor stuff was about a week ahead of us with regards to what was in bloom and the like.

I'm going out to check the fruit trees in a bit. The flowering plums got through the night okay.

Ding dong, the drake is drake is dead. Which old drake? The wicked drake. Ding dong the wicked drake is dead!

Yes, I have been drinking :bun

...and we did 6 of the 14 hens that needed culled. Today we did the hens that were getting offered to the buzzards - the ones I considered too nasty to eat, too scrawny to mess with, etc. We discovered one that was eggbound and full of fluid anyway :sick Good timing I guess. Tomorrow we finish the rest of them.

So that was our first duck experience. Those feathers proved to be a word I can't say here, so I decided to skin him. Keep in mind that I've never skinned a bird before so it took a long time. But - I did it! It looks pretty good and I'll get a photo maybe tomorrow.
