Bum deal jus, like you said before the pen is ready for your new pigs.

Sometimes people that keep you out in the dark till the last minute, are just depending on you when every other avenue that they have tried doesn't come through. Sort of like being a second fiddle IMHO, but I don't know them.
You know....IF thats what I was..."second fiddle" I could handle it, if she were honest about it. Oh well...im not gonna let it bother me.
I guess I just expect people to be honest...and I get dissapointed easily. I need a tougher shell! LOL

So, yesterday evening...my SIL and I went to the local auction house. I wasnt looking for anything in particular...just went with her. Well....me and auction houses really get along just fine! :p I only spent $21.00 But I got a few good things. 2 green oil lamps. $4.00 for BOTH, what a steal! Then I got an old cake carrier, one of the metal ones. Its in great shape too! Unfortunately it was in a "box lot" and I ended up with a few things I didnt really want, and will have to take to good will. ( an old tea kettle, some aluminum very small pots, aluminum measureing cups, a dish drainer) Things I wont need. The whole lot was only $6. So not to bad....Oh then I was able to get some older metal TV trays. There are 4 of them...with a stand...$4.00. ( notice I only bid on the cheap stuff) LOL Then I got this HUGE glass bowl. Its hand turned, so not completely round..LOL But I love it. $5.00. They have an auction every 2 weeks...its an addiction! LOL They had 5 LARGE boxes of canning lids and bands....I bid on them untill it reached $45. Then I quit. I think I can get them cheaper NEW! LOL Then there was a large pressure canner...I tried on it too..I stopped at $10.00 it went for 12.50 UGH! Oh well. :/
They are saying today is going to be a great day....mid to upper 70's. I am sure I can find SOMETHING to get done outside today...yesterday I planted some flower bulbs around the flag pole....and finally put out the flood light for it as well. I think today I will concentrate on setting the flower boxes up, and seeding them. I have 8 of them that are 3 ft long that sit on the front edge of the porch. Well, its already 8 am, and sunlights a burnin! Have a great day everyone...!

Great finds at the auction house. I need to find something like that around my place. I can't stand wasting my time driving all day looking at yard sales. If it was all centrally located that I might do. Beautiful day here as well. My dh put up my laundry line yesterday. I am on my second load. Whoohooo!!!

Oh what a BEAUTIFULL DAY!! 74 degrees....sunny...light breeeze. It couldn't have been more perfect if I could have ordered it! I have to say tho, it had an odd effect on me. I just wanted to laze around and soak up the sun! Of course....I couldnt do that ALL day. :/ So, I got out the grass seed, and reseeded a few spots around the chicken coops.. and threw out some wild flower seed along the front of the woods...and planted my flower pots for the porch.....then I ran to town, picked up a few pairs of canvas tennis shoes. I just love them for out in the yard. ( when its not muddy ) While I was in town, I picked up some bulbs...Hyacinth(sp?) to plant around the flagpole and Hostas for a shady hanging basket outside the chicken coop door. I also had a few metal butterflies, I hung inside the chicken coop in the walkway area. ( yeah, im wierd, I decorate the inside if my coop) I have 2 framed pictures in there, one is of a rooster, my grandson drew. Had to frame it, and hang it in there, another is of chickens in the yard, drawn by my best friends little girl, framed as well. Oh, I also got my seed potato's today. I cant waite to get them started.
Then when DH got up, he told me a guy he works with had started a LOT of garden veggies, and they ALL came up, so he is giving us his surplus. I feel blessed. I was not able to get my seeds started early enough, but I will now have cauliflour, broccoli, cabbage and a few others..I cant remember them all.
So, I let the pig thing get the best of me..and decided to contact the rescue organization and ask about the pigs. This was not the woman that was fostering them. She said..." the woman that WAS fostering them had found them a home, and was scared to tell me because I had gone through so much trouble getting ready for them, so she lied! " I told her, I would rather she have told me the truth, and that I would not have been angry. I was only going to foster them, not keep them! I am GLAD they have a great forever home. Some people...JEESH! She was very appoligetic, and asked if I would still be able to help in the future, and that I would deal with only the board members from here on out. Of course...I said I would. I am just glad to know they are in a great home, and not on the loose somewhere. Tomorrow DH said he would till the garden...so I can get my onion sets in, and start the taters! I cant waite to feel the dirt under my nails...and between my toes. Yup, I garden barefoot when I can. :p

Gene Logsdon the writer of many homesteading books has said he likes to garden barefoot and NAKED!

I honestly think I would do that too! I usually end up in torn shorts, what was left of a T-shirt and of course my straw sun hat! I only wear shoes when I am tilling.

Taters and onions on my schedule as well for today.

Today was a productive day. Started out I had to go to town for a few things...coffee filters..creamer..lettuce and tomato for our BLT's for lunch..and of course...lottery tickets. :p When I pulled out of the drive, I saw our postal delivery person...I stopped him and asked if I had a package, expecting turkey eggs. He said yes and my heart did a little flip. So I get out, walk to his truck...and its NOT my eggs...but my second PEACH TREE! Woohoo!
So, I get home and DH is up, finally. He sleeps really late on Saturdays. It was 11 am. Got everything put away and DH is getting his boots on. ;) Gonna get some work out of him today! I headed to the chicken coops, had to move around a few youngens to open a pen. Have baby ducks coming today. :D I get them moved, pens cleaned..and walk over to the shop...DH has his truck over there..Hmmmmmm :/ Had a pile of scrap wood left over from the coop construction in a pile, cleaned that up, then had another pile of brush. Filled his 1/2 ton truck. Drove it all over to the burn pile. My friend shows up with the baby ducks.. :love 4 little Khaki Kambels! I have been looking for some for a while now. She also brought a bag of wool, from the Ewe I am getting when the fence and barn are done. She had her sheared because she is preggers. :) Then my step dad pulls in the drive. Hmmm, he rarely comes out here now that Mom is gone. He said he just " wanted to get out" So he and DH visited for a while. After they both left we grabbed my 16 blackberry plants..and got them planted. Tomorrow I will get the T posts and wire up for them. Planted the 2 peach trees...and moved 1 1/2 ricks of firewood from the woodpile, to the garage and back yard. Went back out, fed and watered everyone...locked them up..and then...i went crazy...ordered PIZZA and hotwings! :/ I know, not SS...but I was too pooped to cook. Tomorrow I will make the BBQ ribs that are in the fridge...that was supposed to be dinner this evening. Hubby wants to trim a few trees back, and I want to get a load of stuff from the barn..and get it cleaned out and I have to build a roost for the smaller chickens.
I sure hope the blackberry plants thrive! 16 plants...whew! Should get a good mess of berries..........in a few years. :/

I moved my black raspberries today to a new location. I look like I went dancing with wild cats. I hope your blackberries are thorn-less!

Ha Ha!

I never use gloves when pruning or picking either - I find I actually get poked less than I do with gloves on! The gloves are always getting hooked on the plant - then I pull - then I bleed!

I have wonderful thornless blackberries. They get tall as me and have big rose looking blooms. Really quite beautiful. I wish I knew the variety but they were here when I took over the garden.
