I think it's funny, you bring home a puppy, I bring home an Alpaca....if I had brought home a puppy, Ernie would have killed me! but he was OK with the Alpaca :gig

I don't have Neverending Story on VHS or DVD.....I need to find myself a copy! My kids haven't seen that movie yet that I know of....I do have a VHS of The Dark Crystal, but that movie freaked my kids out! Go figure!

My hubby would DEFINATELY blow a gasket if I was to bring home an Aplaca. He was alright with Falcor. Of course, my Birthday is coming up...and I can get away with a pup. LOL
I left him outside night before last, because of his fleas.....when hubby got home in the morning, he told me..." I was glad to see you left him out, I wasn't sure how he would react to me coming in at 6 am"

So, I went to the Dr today. Our Dr moved, so I needed to get another one lined up, " just in case" :/
I really detest going to the Dr. But, I bite the bullett and go. I needed her to look at my wrist anyways. I hurt it a few months ago, cutting firewood, and its just not healing. She comes in, asks the usuall million questions...then says.." I can hear you weezing all the way over here.( 5 ft away) Yeah, I have COPD, no biggie...I keep it under controll. So she wants to listen to my lungs, heart, and concludes I have Bronchitis. WHAT!?? I feel fine!! My wrist hurts! So she pinches my wrist...I wince...she says" Take Ibprofin 2x a day for the wrist, take these 2 inhalers, and antibiotics, and I want to see you again in 5 days" UGH! Take Ibprofin!?? I have been! Its not working!! THEN the mean old hag, ( not really) but to ME she is.....she makes me get a pneumonia shot! Are you KIDDING ME!?? I hurt more NOW that I am home, than I did before I went in! and NOW I have all these meds to take. I knew I should have just stayed home. I told her in 5 days, I expect something to be done about my wrist, whether my lungs are clearer or not! She said ...." We have to have the lungs clear, or you wont need the wrist" Yeah, OK, so I find a smartie for a Dr. Jeesh! I tried to explain how much I do outside with this farm...and she waved her hand at me and said...."lungs first, wrist later" :barnie I just want to scream at her! Oh, and they gave me the shot in the same arm that my wristy hurts...JEESH, THANKS!:tongue and THATS why I dont like going to the Dr. :rant

J - there are a million doctors out there....I think you would be better off finding one that has a better "bedside" manner and is willing to listen to the patient, instead of knowing it all without patient participation.

What a pain in the butt kind of doctor is THAT? Sounds like she has a burr up her butt.

What about going to a walk in clinic for your wrist? They will have the x-ray machine right there, which would save you a trip for an x-ray with your regular "doctor". And they will treat your wrist and not be side tracked.

It is entirely possible that your doctor was defensive because she didn't have a clue about what is going on with your wrist and her pride got in the way. Or it could be PMS. Or, she could just be a jerk who ALWAYS has PMS.

We live in a small town, and getting into a dr is hard. Most wont take new patients...and the next town away from me is almost an hour. SIGH. I am going back in 5 days, and she WILL address the wrist, or I will look for another Dr. Maybe she is PMSing...I dont know..and I understand the lungs are very important, but I have weezed, every day of my life....NO dr had been able to "cure " it. Thats just part of my life....my hubby says, " I purr" What she doesnt understand is, I NEED my wrist! Between throwing hay, straw, feed, or firewood...my wrist HAS to work! Guess for now I will continue alternateing heat and ice, and ibprofin.

Can you go to a drug store and get some kind of a brace or an Ace wrap to give you some support? I had to end up doing that with my tennis elbow. Actually, for a long time I just tied a rag really tight around my forearm to reduce the pain.

There is probably nothing she could have really done for wrist pain. It would take a long time for her to resort to a steroid injection, and then you deal with rebound pain for three days. If it hasn't cleared up by now, you probably have a chronic inflammation which will only respond to rest, ice, compression and over-the-counter anti-inflammatories. The major one is rest, because an inflammation of any kind will just get worse and worse unless you back off completely for a few days. Like, oh, maybe FIVE days!!! LOl

She just could have taken two seconds and explained that to you insteady of being Dr. Crankypants.

Guess who works for doctors.

"Dr. Crankypants" HAHAHA! LOVE IT! Now I have to be carefull NOT to call her that! LOL
Actually, she isn't even a Dr, she is a Nurse Practitioner(?) There are no available Doctors in our town. Sadly enough, someone has to die, before you can get into a REAL Dr. Im ok with a NP tho. She is overseen by a Dr, and can reccomend any specialist. ( like for my wrist) if needed later. She did mention, that they have a "Hand and wrist Dr" that comes in on Thursdays only from the next town over. Maybe I can get scheduled in with him.:fl I do wrap it when I am going to be super busy outside, with an Ace bandage. It helps some, but usually by the evening, it is warm to the touch, and throbbing. At least winter is coming, and I will be able to slow down a bit... sweeeeeeeeeet! Healing time! :D

I can't take credit for the Crankpants moniker. My daughter used it yesterday and I loved it.

Red and throbbing are (big word alert) "pathognomonic" (diagnostic) of inflammation. Ya gotta rest it completely and ice it. A specialist will take x-rays and charge you a fortune. I, OTOH, will only nag you to death. Some choice, eh? Otc ibuprofen can be taken at prescription strengths. Meaning if it says take one, you can take two without concern. You have to break the inflammation cycle in order to get better.

Don't make me come over there.... LOL

Still have a pig to get butchered, canned, and put up, and peas might make it still, and still getting fall beets in to can. Then the Holidays...and oh, lets NOT forget the frozen animal waterers!
