They are very pretty gals. They are lucky to have found you. I like the Thelma an Louise but depending on personality they may be more like Lucy and Ethel. :D

So, I have had the 2 ewes in a stall in the barn, away from the others for a few days. Just to let them acclimate to the new place, sounds, smells...and animals.
There are 2 stalls in the barn....side by side. So, I go out there this morning to feed everyone, and open the barn.....when I was greeted with such a site!
Seems Sonny Boy wanted to be with the new girls. He litterally tore down an entire wall...to get to them. :barnie So, maybe they are not preggers after all?? ( or wasnt) LOL I have no idea. All I know is that this little ram is WAY too strong!! I mean, for real...tearing down a wall!????
SO I get my bucket of nails, hammer, and pliers...and start repairing the wall. Trying to keep the sheep out of my way..they are so nosey. Then...IT happend... WHAM!! I completely smashed my finger!!! Blood started pumping out like a firehose!! Usually blood doesnt bother me....but it was early...my coffee was sitting there getting cold on the barn wall ledge...no breakfast in me...animals being little buttheads...and now, im woozy. I grab a rag, and cover my finger....didnt want to really look at it. Threw the hammer across the barn....and started cussing. :duc Everyone in the barn fled!! Poor Falcor...he ran out, then came back to the barn door, and just stood there peeking in at me as if to say..." is it safe to come back in"? :hide I went and grabbed my now almost ice cold coffee...and sat down in the straw....holding my now throbbing finger. Once the wooziness passed, I was able to look at my finger. Not too bad...nothing a few bandaids wont cover. Made my way to the house, cleaned and bandaged my finger...then went to town for dog food, and cheese for Lasagna for dinner tonight.
Later this evening, I need to go get my hay. I was able to find it for $2.50 a square bale. Grass hay...good enough for the sheep. I will be getting 20 bales...and hope this makes it through the winter. Im headed back out to move a few loads of firewood...before I have to go get hay. UGH! It never ends. Guess I better go check on the sheep...make sure I still have a wall standing!

will leave the collars on them, untill I know they are easy to catch and handle.Mainly because of the hoof trimmings they will still need.
They sure are stong! Drug me all over trying to get them settled, for trimming. ;)
I'm not a sheep owner, but I own horses. (If you do, you'll agree that all 1,000 pounds can sometimes behave like a frightened rabbit.) I read a thread on BYC about settling a horse (that was down) by blanketing him up to his head. I wonder if the sheep would settle down like that, that is gently drop her to her knees like they do when they roll, help her to lay down, then cover? It's worth a try. I DO know that, just like in the Bible, sheep know their master's voice, and they don't readily trust, which is different from goats who are Everybody's best friend.
BTW, I read your original posting. You are truly blessed.

Sounds like your new sheeples may not be preggers after all, huh? Well, you might want to mark this day on the calendar anyway and calculate for a Feb lambing?

IF they are not preggers....and IF Sonny had his way with them....then we would have April lambs. Only problem with that is....I will have 4 ewes lambing...in April and only 2 stalls! I really dont think Sonny is tall enough to get to these gals. They stand almost 6 inches taller than him. ( he is short and "stocky" We wont use the F word! LOL)
I left the girls in thier stall, however...the stall door is open. They can come out, but dont seem interested in doing so. They are still so scared. Poor babies. I hope they adjust soon...it worries me that they are not getting sunshine! I have water in thier stall...and feed them thier grain every morning in there, and throw them some hay...maybe thats why they dont want to leav...its too easy! LOL
Headed out there now...I have to unload 20 bales of hay I got yesterday, for $2.50 a bale! Looks like good hay....but then, what do I know! The woman I got the original sheep from, said grass hay is what they need, so its what I got. Once I get these 20 bales in.....if I have room, I will go get another 10 or 20...just in case! LOL
I was able to get a few back shots of thier udders.....I know ( sheep porn) sorry! LOL
This is the Black and white one...Hers is bigger than the others.

Never underestimate the power of love.

We have (my aunt currently owns him) a 15.1 hand Tennessee Walking Horse stallion named Treasure and my aunt used to regularly breed him to her 17.3 hand walking mare. For those of you without horse math in your heads that is a 10 inch difference in height!

Have you ever seen a horse tiptoe? :ep

We moved the 20 bales of hay into the barn. It smells sooooo good! I just love the smell of fresh hay. So glad I am not allergic! LOL Tossing hay...stirring dirt...What a mess we were when finished! I am just glad to be done with THAT chore! LOL
We went and picked up the 2 pigs from the butcher. WOW!! I filled one freezer...and half filled the other. Guess I better get to canning some of this soon! I did take one of the ham steaks from the boar, and fried it up. They butcher said because it was not smoked, it would be just like a pork chop...and you know what?? He was right! No bad odor....tastes great! My sister just doesnt know what she is missing out on. I have to say tho...as I was loading it into the freezer...I was a little disturbed to grab a clear plastic package out of the box....look down, and see that I was holding a pigs tongue!! :barnie Threw that in the freezer right quick! Looks like good old Falcor will have a few pork dinners as well! There is NO WAY, I will eat the tongue, OR heart. I just cant. Im OK with the liver...thats all good...just cant get past the heart and tongue tho. :sick
Hopeing tomorrow we will get more firewood moved over closer to the house. Have to clear the garage as well...to get all the Christmas stuff out of the barn, and checked over really well. Almost time to start setting up the " winter wonderland" I can't waite. :D
BIL is here..and will be here...late I am sure. So, I am going to bed! HA! Tomorrow is St Marys Christmas Bazar...and I need to go, my grandsons class is participateing this year. :love Maybe I will be able to find a few " gotta have" craft items...or some yummy breads...or cookies...or..who knows! :D

Sounds like fun! I haven't been to any craft events this year yet, just haven't had the extra money or room for anything extra. :p

You probably won't need to have your gals in a pen if you are lambing in April. Shouldn't be freezing temps or anything by then and a good spring rain is like a kiss to sheeples.
