I think 2 dream might be onto something...i mean she would want you to quarantine your chickens to protect hers and all perhaps she can let you carve out a little space for your flock and in return perhaps you could help her (TEACH) better care for her flock.

8/2/09 - Sunday

Woke up to rain this morning. 60

DH was off yesterday and today, so yesterday we moved more stuff to storage and put some up for sale. We packed a picnic lunch and ate it in the village park and went to two yard sales as a short break. We didnt buy anything, but there were a few things I would have purchased, except they were too expensive. One place had an old glass butter churn with wooden paddles in excellent condition. They also had an old Hoosier cabinet with all the accessories in tact. The other place had a scythe which was too short for dh and too long for me. Neither place was willing to haggle the prices.

We put a couple dozen pallets by the end of the drive, and by dinner time they were gone. They were old and were probably only good for firewood.

Went to church at WOW by the lake this morning. The rain held off during the entire service. Laurie invited us to stay for fellowship afterwards, but we told her we already had plans. The plans were to check on a house we saw in this mornings paper.

This house is actually across the street from a farm we put a bid on when we first moved back to Ohio. (The owners wanted more than our bid.) It is a corner lot on two busy roads. Anyway, we know the area, and wouldnt be too bad time wise for dhs commute to work; it would put us 15 minutes farther west. I think it may be a bit high for us, but no amount was specified in the ad, so I called and left a message.

I am surprised by the number of people who dont return phone calls. I called one place everyday for a week, and yesterday was told the place was already rented. Last week-end I started calling about a used 20 camper/trailer. Yesterday I finally got someone to answer the phone and was told the unit was sold. It is just very frustrating.

I had a good long talk with my sister K tonight, who lives in Nevada. She and her husband own two parcels of land in Northern Nevada. One is the 10 acres in Elko county I mentioned the other day, but they also own 83 acres in Humboldt county. She had a number of ideas to throw out. They were good ideas and gives us some options to seriously think about.

Take away garlic-sausage pizza for dinner tonight. No cooking for me.

Abigail, our Dominique, is done being broody. Every day this past week she has been spending more and more time out of the nest. Today she sounds like her normal self; no more deep bawking and growling. Last night she was part of the flock that followed me around chasing crickets and grasshoppers. Later, she sat on a roost for a while before going back to the nest to sleep. Tonight she is on the roost. Happy day!

50 tonight. I think we might have to shut some of the windows, as it is actually damp and chilly. According to the calendar, it IS August; but it doesnt feel like it.

59 this morning. We're supposed to reach 85 and have sunshine and blue skies today! It might start to feel like August yet!

I am sure of it, FF! He has always taken very good care of us; we have been very blessed in this life.

When you talk about the land parcels in Nevada, do you mean there is a chance you would move there?

I know you are worried and frustrated, but everything will work out the way it's supposed to.

Yes, my sister has offered us a couple acres in either place for reasonable price. We would have to have a well (my sister has already had the places dowsed, but no wells dug yet) and septic dug. Both areas, but especially the Humboldt county one (83 acres) was purchased with the intent of of building with solar/wind/geo-thermal power. It would mean camper living until a house could be built. She was thinking straw bale, but we could do what we want.

keljonma, I didn't know you were looking to move. I feel for you! I have been there numerous times and its always a stressful thing to find a place that suits you.

I hope you can find a place where you won't have to give up your flock....a good, solid flock takes time to build.
