Um, E said there probably is close to 50 strawberry plants there  In just the one bunch, there's TEN!

We enjoyed the day, too! Thank you so much!

And no Cracker Barrel???? :(

Again, thank you for everything!!

and even if TR doesn't think it's necessary, I don't mind in the least if you come down every 3 weeks to check on my bees!

This is certainly a day for exclamation marks and LOL's, isn't it?!

Today was just perfect, QA; and one of the things I love about beeking is the zen of working the hive.

Now you need to move some chairs over there so you and E can start listening and sniffing, and journaling in your notebook about that hive of yours. :D just heavenly

Seriously you can learn a lot by listening to the sound of the hive a little every day at different times of the day. When your colony starts producing drone bees, you will automatically be able to tell the difference between a worker leaving the hive to forage and a drone leaving the hive to hit the local drone congregating site (a drone sounds like 747 compared to the worker buzz of a small personal plane).

E did show me all the plants he had but I didn't look at how many of them he and TR put in the buckets and the car. The plants are now sitting on the back deck waiting for TR to plant them.

Funny girl! Do ya wanna be a bee-keeper or a bee-haver?? I know you are just kidding! :D While I would love to do just that - drive to your place to watch you work your bees - I am not sure how that will work out just yet. :D

But think of how amazed your family and friends will be when they get a teeny 4 oz jar of your own $200 honey and a teeny votive beeswax candle made with your own beeswax at Christmas!

BTW, even if you don't get honey your first year, I recommend that you start thinking up clever labels for those jars. Our label changed 4 times before we got to the final one....... ;)

Oh, a Bee-keeper for sure!! :) I was just thinking of when TR asked YOU if you were going to come down in 3 weeks to check on my bees

Well, since we're Evening Star Farm, we'll probably have Evening Star Honey. :D We both think that's cute! :d

Oh and E wanted to know if the car rattled too much on the way home?

Paul is here this morning rebuilding the overhang storage shelter next to the mud room.

TR made coffee before heading out this morning to mow the front and side yards.

The temp is 69 and the wind is about 10 to 15 mph, so there is a wonderful breeze coming through the windows. :D The humidity is at 71% and according to our local radar, the storm is coming in dark blues, yellows and orange!

I spent most of this morning checking emails from yesterday. :D

Going to make some brunch, as I don't think TR ate anything before heading outside this morning. .....

Have fun!

It was raining here already, only saw about a dozen girls buzzing around the hive before the storm hit. They flew for cover fairly quickly :D

Not raining at this very moment, but we do have a breeze coming in.

Was at the library this morning because I had to send a fax, so I have the pics from yesterday uploaded. :D

Raining here. Paul and the Amish lumber guys left about 11 am when the rain started to hit hard.

We had pancakes with a bit of whole grain flour added to the batter. With real butter and maple syrup for TR and real butter and our honey for me. :drool

I heared Paul tell TR this morning that when the landlord approved the work for Paul to do he told him to "do it cheap". So instead of replacing the dry rotted wood on the roof last week, Paul put what he called masonite over the old wood. Then we got new roof felt, flashing and shingles. And instead of replacing the support beams for the overhang, which are rotted, Paul jacked up the overhang roof, realigned the old support beams with the cement block sill, and screwed new posts to the old ones. That is all he got done today before the rain.

TR says it is just drizzling right now, so he is out weeding the raised bed for the strawberry plants we got from QA & E. :D

Hey, I just noticed our purple lilacs are pic of the week! :D Good thing I took that pic when I did, as the purple lilacs are almost done now.....
