Going to look at a house tomorrow!!! Almost 4 acres and a 2 story cape cod for $150000. I am trying not to get too excited but that would be great for us.

Everyone is feeling better...yes, Maddie is cutting a molar so that's probably why her tummy is still yucky.

Just laying around the house today, relaxing after the last few days of chaos...thinking about what I'm gonna do for dinner...still don't know. Maybe BLTs...haven't done that in a while. Hmmmm

Good luck with the house!! Let us know how it goes!! $150K sounds like a great price for a house and 4 acres!

It is a good price...we were planning on selling our house for 159000 so it would be like trading houses! Our real estate agent called and said that the house just went into foreclosure so if we like it and we act fast we may be able to get it for even less. :fl

It would need some cosmetic things...paint and such but that is doable. Looks good in the pictures but you know how that is...everything is always different in person.

I hope it all works out!! Just try to get an inspection because it will be worth the $$ so you do not go in blind and run into large unexpected problems!!
The house next to my mom is in forclosure....but, I am sure the bank is not telling potential buyers that the previous owners put kerosene and diesel fuel and whatever they could get their hands on into the furnace for heat and ruined the furance!! And that is why they moved out last winter before the bank kicked them out because they did not have any heat in the house to get them through another winter.
The inspection is just good so that you are not suprised....even though I am sure the bank will not fix any problems that you find.
Another one of my friends looked at a house in foreclosure several times went and talked to one of the neighbors and found out that the previous owners left the house and moved out of state because when they had the inground pool put in the digger cracked the foundation to the basement of the house and the one whole side of the basement for was little so soggy that it was like stepping on marshy ground. The previous owners tried to sue the digger but he would not pay up and repair it and then they had to move out of state or something and bought another house. But, if the neighbor had not told about it they would not have known. I believe the neighbor also gave them the name of the previous owner and my friend called them in Florida I think it was and that is how they found out more about the house. In the end they decided the damages were just to expensive on top of the banks asking price.

I think any house you buy will need paint and such... eventually. Unless the place is really bad, I usually wait until we are in a place a few months before I start thinking color schemes. It seems most places we've purchased have been painted beiges and whites when they were put on the market... :)

One of the best things we ever did when house hunting was to either take the video camera (it was the 80's and 90's) or the digital camera. That way, you don't have to rely on memory after you get back home.

Good luck with the housing situation LHA!

Guess what!!!!! My husband finally found his deer that he shot during bow season! I posted pics in the hunting section...the title is never give up hope. He is so excited...he looks so goofy in the picture!!! We let the kids hold the rack so you could get and idea of how big this deer was. It is just a shame that we couldn't find him and lost the meat. I hated it but we didn't have access to that piece of property at the time and we didn't think the deer would have crossed over there.

Chad was feeling better today and went duck hunting this evening but there was one problem...got to the swamp and he realized that he forgot the decoys....DUH. Guess we all have our "senior moments" no matter what our age, huh!?! :hu

Love the DH senior moment. I bet he was really mad at himself.

Good luck on the house. Hope it is what you want. I second the inspection part. Well for what its worth. My neighbors just sold their house "as is". What no one knew - no even us - and my DH has been under that house a thousand times. The plumbing is all messed up. The inspector signed off on the house. The new owner is looking for someone to sue. Within two days of being in the house he had to have the septic tank pumped. When they continued to have more problems he called a plumber who refused to even think about working on the plumbing of that house. Three plumbers later and a quote of 10,000 he finally found a plumber who is willing to take on the job. Now he is really fighting mad.
Said he is not sure what he is going to do. But they have definately got a majorly expensive problem.

Yea, make sure you get an inspection. Our neighbors got into deep financial trouble because of unforseen major repairs. Good idea about the video camera, too.

I hope it works out for you.

Had to laugh about the duck decoys.

My dad is 83 and still enjoys a good duck hunt, still a crack shot, too. Unfortunatley, the ducks have'nt made it here, yet.

Well, things would've been great if we could just pick up one house and move it on to another lot. It seems like every house we looked at was that way. We want a first floor master cause if we end up in this house forever I am not going up and down stairs all the time. I really would love a ranch on a basement. If we could afford to buy a piece of property here and build we would but land here is so dang expensive.

I don't need much, I am happy with our house now. I just wish that I had a catch it all room, you know? A place to put all the kid's toys so they can actually sleep in their bedrooms, a place to put my sewing stuff, and a place to put all our office stuff. If I had a basement on this house I would be golden.

People in this area just don't build basements anymore either, so we are constantly looking at homes that were built in the 70's and they need work. Now, I don't mind getting my hands dirty but when you need to rework electrical and plumbing to bring things up to code that's a different story.

Chad is packing up to go on his hunting trip for the week...they decided to go to NC to duck hunt instead of OK to goose hunt. Shorter drive and they don't really have any good duck hunting footage yet for the promotional dvd they are trying to put together so they changed plans.

Maddie is still battling diarrhea. Had to put her in the tub again this morning...running out her diaper and down her leg. She is eating a little here and there and drinking water and a little milk but she still keeps complaining that her teeth hurt and her tummy hurts. She even asked to go to bed an hour early this afternoon. I'm calling the dr. tomorrow...it's been a week of this and she isn't much better...no more vomiting but her still having the diarrhea bothers me. It looks like watery breast milk poo...yellow. I just don't know but my baby just isn't herself.

Went to walmart last night and tried to only spend $50 but ended up spending $76. At least it was all food. The kids each got a toy but they spent some of their gift card that they each got for xmas. Hopefully I won't have to get anything else for the week
