Hey Merle, hope you didn't get too mad about me calling you a caveman over on the egg bake post!!!

How's everything going with you? How's your mom and are you still looking for a place to live?
Is it the hair?

Everything is.. I'm not sure. I am alive, though =P
My mom is alright. She was fired from her job of 13 years back in April because her boss stopped liking her, basically. So she has been going to counseling for multiple reasons. Unfortunately (sorry!) it is a Catholic Charities counselor and the lady seems to think that my mom should stay with my dad and that marriage is forever. This is the reason we have endured what we have to begin with. I know if the counselor was in the same position, she's be preaching a different tune.

So no, my mom hasn't divorced him yet. However, she is going back to school! She'll obviously have quite a few loans to pay back because of this, but if it is something that makes her happy and more independent and gets her away from my dad, then it is worth it. She is going to renew her nurses assisting degree (or something like that) and is looking into a couple other college classes that might be helpful. We'll see.

She is also going to try to stop smoking! (A round of applause, please?)

Me on the other hand, I'm going to relocate to a big city and live in an apartment. How crappy is that? Now I'll have lived on both sides of it all. I know I'm going to hate being away from the country and all of the animals but I will be away from my dad. I am going to be attended college classes online. Then I need to see if I can juggle them at the same time as having a job. At least part time. to pay for the apartment. In the fall last year I worked full time while doing school online, but that was high school. This might be harder. So it's kind of scary and kind of exciting, but I also don't like that I have no idea what the future holds. I will be totally completely out of my element living in a city. And so many people around. :sick

Anyway, enough of my yapping.
I might have to get a cell phone. :(
do you know anything about cell phones? what is a good model?

Never fear Blackbird, they can take us out of the country, away from the clean air and peace and quiet.... but they can't take the Sufficient Self or the country out of our soul!

You may change WHERE you live for a time, but it will never change who you are.

Aw honey, it's okay! Good for your mom! :D I'm proud of her, I bet it really chaps your dad's a$$ to see her doing something good for herself!

As far as college goes....whatever. Been there, done that. A lot of good it did me :p It isn't that bad. Just don't procrastinate and you'll be fine! I worked 20hrs a week with a full class load all 4 years of college and it was actually better than if I hadn't worked cause it forced me to prioritize. I also had my own money and didn't have to feel guilty about taking money from my parents.

Never know where life will take you, I can't imagine you without the birds and the goats....guess you get to live vicariously through us for a while, huh?

Well, good news....I got a hit on the hubby's jon boat on CL and if the lady gets it that should be enough to pay for the lean tos on the shed!!! i'm trying not to get too excited.....no money in our pockets yet.

We went to the library today and had a pirate scavenger hunt in the park right next door. The kids all got some cool "booty" when they found the treasure chest. They all got a tattoo of a pirate ship, a book, a bookmark, some stickers and a tootsie roll.

Then we had to go to Target to get a baby gift for a new cousin to be. Mama A is due in 5 weeks. While I was there I picked up trash cans for the kid's rooms and some more school supplies. I got 3 cute onesies for the new baby, one said "current family favorite" one said "all the girls are looking at me!" and the other one said "I burp like daddy" with a little fish on it that had bubbles coming up out of his mouth. Too cute!

Tomorrow I get to go through the freezer and pick out all the meat that thawed and cook it to refreeze for later. I did 4 thighs and 4 legs tonight for dinner and made chicken tacos with rice and corn. My kids ate like they were starving!

I get to do some heavy duty cooking all day...I have a ton of apples too so I may make a pie!!! From scratch!!! We'll see how motivated I am. I also picked up some heavy duty waterproof glue to fix the crack in the kids' pool so they can go swimming tomorrow.

I have got to spend Wednesday organizing the contents of the shed. I have to find the title to the boat trailer. We also need to take pictures of some of the stuff we have out there to sell.

Busy busy....I'm glad I don't have a garden to deal with right now or I would be crazy overwhelmed.

Okay, so my son decided to pull a WWE move and jump THROUGH nanny's glass outdoor patio table.

He asked to go out to play and I told him okay....I was trying to help Maddie on the computer and heard a crash. She wanted to do a barbie dress up game. Then I hear him scream and start crying and luckily his feet took the brunt of it cause he totally destroyed the table. I spent 30 minutes picking glass out of his feet. He had a cut on his wrist too but luckily that wasn't too deep, just a band aid and some neosporin and he was good. I had to vacuum the back porch.

I nearly had a heart attack. :th

I saw that " current family favorite" shirt and wished that I had someone to buy it for, too cute!

Good luck on the sale of the boat (although I have no idea what a jon boat is)..... I hope you make some money!

A jon boat is a flat bottom aluminum boat with the bench seats across. Very basic, like a step up from a canoe. We have a trolling motor on ours and real seats. We have a lady that wants to buy it for her husband as a surprise.

Yeah, Tyler is okay but scared me half to death and just about killed his father when I called him to tell him what happened. When Chad asked him why he jumped on the table he said "I just wanted to play daddy." He told him next time stay on the trampoline.

Congrats on the impending move, btw!!!

Wish I was closer to you. I would buy that jon boat in a hurry. DH sold ours about 8 years ago and I am still giving him a hard time about it.

Sorry about Tylers feet. Man he is so lucky it was not worse. I am sure you were in panic mode until you realized that his injuries were not major. Boys sure can scare the crapola out of you can't they?
