Well guess what now....

My mom just called and she fell this morning and broke her wrist. Her orthopedic bone doctor is in surgery so they put a splint on her and sent her home from the hospital with 2 pain pills. And my grandfather was in Food Lion shopping with my granny and slipped in the meat department and fell and banged up his elbow. On top of my father recovering from a broken arm and my other grandmother recovering from a broken hip.

When it rains it pours, huh?

Don't know what is gonna happen now for Christmas cause everyone was supposed to drive the 2 1/2 hrs to my house and spend the night...my mom and granny were going to stay all weekend. Don't know what will happen now.

Got to get the borax for my laundry detergent and it is too cold to go out to the store right now...maybe tomorrow. I have enough detergent to last me for the next couple of loads so I should be all right.

Well...what to do now?

Wow, that is awful about your mom and grandpa!! I hope your mom can get into see the surgeoun soon! Hopefully they both have a quick recovery!
It sounds like they all just need to move to one house and have a full time nurse taking care of them!!

I'm just afraid that I would be the nurse!!!

I love them and all but good grief! When my papa fell and broke his back (trimming limbs on a tree at HIS father's house and a limb broke free and hit the ladder and he fell) I was pregnant and went to stay with him for a month until he could get around by himself cause Granny just couldn't get him up and down.

When Granny Esther fell 6 weeks ago and broke her hip (took down curtains to wash and fell off the bed putting them back up) my mom went to the nursing home/therapy building every day after work to get her clothes and wash them or bring her snacks or the mail and such. Every day...ran her ragged.

My dad tripped and fell at work and broke his arm (he lays brick and block and fell over the orange netting on the job site). I took both kids and went and stayed off and on for a month with him.

I try to help but they are all 2 1/2 hrs away so it is a commitment when we go. Maybe this is a sign that SHE needs to slow down and rest too. She is one of those people that takes care of everyone else and never herself.

She told Chad today that come h*** or high water she was going to be with her babies for Christmas though!

We'll be fine... :)

Wow, your family is an accident prone bunch!! Good thing they live 2 1/2 hours away so it does not have a chance to rub off on you!!

My poor mom....they sent her home from the hospital with a splint on her wrist and told her to come back to see the orthopedic surgeon next tuesday! I can't believe that...told her that if the pain got too bad to go back to the emergency room. Can you believe that!?!

Well, spent all day doing laundry and cleaning and getting ready for everyone to come in tomorrow. Hung all my sheets and towels out today even though it was in the 20's. All my towels were stiff as a board when I went out to get them! Crunchy! I only had to put them in the dryer for about 15 minutes though. Not too bad...I only had to dry 3 loads today, hung the other 4 out and ran out of room on the line.

Still have to do a few more things tomorrow and we are trying to decide what kind of cookies to bake for Santa...I think we've narrowed it down to 3--snickerdoodles, chocolate chip (daddy's favorite), and gingersnaps. My granny is bringing all the food...turkey, ham, dressing, pies, everything. Bless her heart, she told me not to make a thing. I just told her that if we needed anything we could go to the store for it.

I learned my lesson last year cause I prepared an entire meal and my granny and mama showed up with another entire meal! We ate off of all that stuff for a week! Granny is all excited about her Paula Deen apple butter pumpkin pies....she's so cute, I love that woman to pieces!

It's gonna be crazy but it'll be fun...that's what the holidays are about anyway, right? I hope it doesn't rain so that Tyler and Maddie can run outside and see the gator and playhouse christmas morning! I can't wait to see their little faces light up!

That is crazy to be hanging your laundry out when it is only 20F!!!
I hope you mom is not in any pain! That is terrible that it is going to take so long for her to get to see the surgeoun.

Yeah, that is one thing snow and ice are good for.......broken bones, especially in our older folks. Sorry Lorihadams about your holiday plans.
