LOL I know just what you mean! I am determined to get some Silkies when I get a rooster to set the eggs.

I got some of my chicken goodies today! I saw Quails pics and it revved the chicken cravings up even more.

I'm moving forward into chicken wonderland!!!! LOL

Monday

Well, got everything notorized and ready to go to the courthouse today. We went to the DMV and bought our house for the bargain basement price of $45!!! How redneck does that sound???

I have to go to the public administration bldg and the courthouse and our insurance agent to get the insurance for the house. Then I am meeting hubby at the bank this afternoon to see about getting a loan for all the moving/construction costs. The barn plans have been just about finalized....looks like we are going with a 30 by 30 with a 10x30 loafing area, 2 5x5 pens, a 10x12 milking parlor with a sink, an 8x10 feed/storage room and stairs with a good sized flex space in the remainder of the barn so that we can put up temporary pens or whatever as needed. We will also have a loft for storage and doors on 2 sides of the loafing area so that if we have heavy winds we can close of either one if needed.

We are going to build a new chicken coop (my husband has like 200 free 2x4s at work---woo hoo!) and it will be 12 by 12 with a 4x12 storage room on one end and the windows will be from my great grandma's old house that has been torn down. They will have a huge run that they will share with a trio of our chocolate runners. The duck house and pond will be on the opposite end of the pen and it will share one side of the fence with the goat run from the barn. We will be keeping our old coop as a breeding pen or possible isolation coop or maybe a chick house for future broodies and their babies.

I have convinced hubby to keep the rabbits for the manure and possible worm breeding underneath.

I will be getting rid of 7 of my indian runners if anyone is interested.... :D

I can't wait until everything gets rolling and we can start making some progress. I'll go by today and take a picture of our future homesite so everyone can see!!! So excited!!!

I am SOOOOOO Excited for you! I am so happy that things are moving along now, I know you were super frustrated but your patience has paid off :ya

We need lots of pics ok? Don't let me down girl....I need to hope that this too can happen to me! (the moving to a great spot where I can be more SS)

BTW....When I had 2 of my kids, we got bills form the hospital for our co-pay....$5. I always thought that was a bargain, but a $45 home is pretty sweet!

Heck that is even better than my grandpa's story of buying HIS first car with pennies. It was $12.00 for a used model A ... way back in the day.

A dollar is 12 times a better deal!

Congratulations!!!! I am so excited for you. Your plans for the barn and coop sound great as well.

I have a question, does the sale amount of your place, $45 bucks affect what the insurance will cover? Do they cover replacement cost , not just what you paid for it right? I know that sounds lame but just wondering.

WOO HOOO!!!

Fantastic Lori!!!! I am so happy for you and your family!!!

..and not to be a nosey little know it all here - but the insurance will cover the cost of rebuilding the home. The price paid for it and tax assessments will not factor in that. Um, I sell insurance for a living in VA.
