That cabbage coleslaw sounds yummy!

I find that when I write things down and have to face them, I do much better!

Plus you don't have to think to keep track of it. You'll know pretty quick if you haven't had enough variety or too many carbs, whathaveyou.
I should probably start writing down my foods too. I know I don't eat quite enough veggies. Do you keep a little notebook & write them down as you go?

I am going to write it in my journal here and that way those who are much wiser than I can critique it and help me stay on track :thumbsup
The veggie thing is hard...I can eat fruit all day long but that won't be a good habit!

haven't had sugar in several days. I don't fee sick anymore. I've been drinking water.....:sick, but the scale isn't changing.

hopefully it just takes time. with WW, I lost 4 lbs the first week and 2-4 every week after. it came off really quick
One of the best things you can do right now is to take that scale and give it to Goodwill. Or if you really can't bring yourself to do that, then wrap it up in a garbage bag, and get out a ladder, and put it somewhere that it will be VERY inconvenient to get to.

It is the shape of your body that is the key, along with how healthy you become. Obsessing about the scale is counterproductive. It makes most people start to count calories and grams and such and start restricting food intake and skipping meals.

If you must, write down what you weigh now, and you can take that scale out again when you feel your body is just where you want it to be (be reasonable! Our bones spread a bit as we age and especially after pregnancy! That is normal and not something to be ashamed of.)

BBH and Noobie, for serious weight loss, I recommend 12 servings of LGI veggies per day for women....tough to do! And one serving of fruit. Only for serious weight loss. That would be an average of 6 cups of cooked veggies per day. ;) Salad is more, depends on how you pack it in the cup. There is a lot of air between lettuce leaves!

If you shoot for half raw and half cooked, the average person will do great. Some rare people do better on more or all raw, some on cooked. But for enzyme and nutrient balance, I like half and half.

When I have a low veggie day, I make sure I load up the next day. This time of year, a huge pan of roasted veggies is easy to take! Lately, I have been sprinkling our plates liberally with shredded cheese....oh, super yum!

What about maintenance? I don't have much more weight to lose. The better nutrition & exercise is taking a lot of it off. Well, not weight, I haven't lost a pound. But I'm feeling better and the clothes are looser. Muscles are shaping up too, woo hoo sexy arms!
Where did I screw my math up, 2 lbs=32 ounces=4 cups, or are you just saying 12 is the better number of servings for weight loss? Confused, as usual, lol :p
ETA: also, what was it about spinach that you can't eat it daily? The oxalic acid?

I packed myself a sandwich baggie filled with veggies to go on my rounds to pick up kiddos from school. I think I chewed for 30 minutes straight. Did not enjoy it at all! Next time I will need to break it up...I think it is just too much for me to eat a pound of veggies at once. And yes I weighed it to make sure I did not skimp :sick

Free...I really like the half cooked/half raw idea. That kind of helps to keep it sorted out in my head.

Your math is for liquid measure....

The spinach thing applies to raw spinach. For everything in life, variety makes it better!

If you don't have more to lose, play with the amounts of carbs and fats. I eat way more than two carb servings a day, but if my weight starts to inch up, I can just cut that back and it drops right off. It is awesome. Took me a while, but it works.

I still can't tolerate sugar. I immediately get infections and gain a weight VERY quickly. So it is a rare treat. Waaah!

Yeah, Dace! Way to jump right in! I think I'd have trouble eating all that in 30 minutes, too! But you have started the habit. Just start earlier in the day, and put a few things in that bag that are treats to you. For me it is olives or hearts of palm. If snow peas are available, those go in the bottom. I skip veggies I don't really like, but put ones I can tolerate on the top layer and in smaller amounts. No raw zucchini for me....blech! For treats, you might also try nuts or a hunk of cheese, marinated button mushrooms, a pickle, whatever floats your boat.

Low carb is how the human body is designed (or evolved...take your pick :D ) to function. Only in the last 30 years have we had access to so many refined grains, sugars and fruits year-round. Just keep that in mind for the next part...

Once you reach your goal weight, you can experiment to see what your carb tolerance is. It will be different from person to person. Introduce one carby food at a time and see how you react. Does it make you feel bloated? Set of a binge? Raise your blood pressure? Cause a weight gain? If so, keep that food very limited.

There is NO SUCH THING as an essential carbohydrate. All the micro-nutrients associated with grain consumption are readily available from other sources (like meat, leafy greens and full fat dairy) and don't need to be wrapped in sugar to benefit you.

And I'm sure WZ agrees when I say.....don't add crap to your diet. We are talking about more whole, fresh fruit, beans, an occasional potato or ear of sweet corn....or.....wait for it.....cornbread!

*Slaps forehead* Doh!

I guess my favorite would be baby carrots, but of course, I'd be shaking the bag to get the last carrot. I'd have to put those in sparingly.
I don't typically have a problem with sugar, other than I know it doesn't do my body any nutritional good. Diabetes runs in my family, so I'm trying to watch it.
