There is bison at the local vitamin cottage. Around $6/lb though so I don't buy it often.

I am still eating CAFO meat, but I know the risks. Raising the ducks and quail will eventually get me to eat more of my own raised meat. Even that has issues though...the game bird feed I can get locally has soy! Arggg.

As frustrating as it is, I do the best I can and make improvements where I am able. Baby steps :D

Yes, me too, Dace. Bu the thought of putting that filthy meat in my mouth makes me squirmy. So it's easier for me to just give it up than it is to get past it.

I was thinking of buying organic meat once or twice a month and supplementing my diet with it. My daughter likes meat.

Have you seen the documentary "Food Inc" yet? Situations like this feature prominently.

It's the sort of info you have to go out of your way to see at first, then it starts popping out at you everywhere. Then the gears start turning and you make all sorts of connections.

All of which have lead me to the conclusion that I have no choice but to buy a dang animal or two to raise & hunt more.

Like WZ, I know the dangers, I still eat it on occasion just because of habit or taste or whathaveyou.

We've almost cleaned out all the deer meat from last year *sigh*
