actually today we had an idea. this house came with one of those invisible fences. of course i tilled over the line so many times it wasnt useful (or necessary for us)...so we think we're going to give it to them neighbors if only out of our own defense (de-fence??).
Good one!

wow what a day!

first i was out there early and that neighbor guy basically tiptoed out of his house and snuck out of his drive. but i saw him.

not a PEEP from over there tho
;-)

we decided to give them the invisible dog fence and when The Big Man went to see if they were home i asked if he wanted me to go?

NO WAY!

he told me that i had done plenty and to stand there and look cute.

sheesh!

but we had all upside today... got a full bucket of milk from Debbie after poor little Ginger's long nite alone.. but then Debbie got fussy and kicked it over. i gave her a piece of my bad attitude. so when i heard the dogs fussin' i turned around and asked "who else wants a piece of me today"

and there werent any takers.

but i got some cheese going from Nibbles and Vita's milk... then we hopped in the big truck and drove to a guy's nearby cow farm. he sold us two HUGE scoops of compost...not even compost.. it was dark black crumbly soil for $20! i was thrilled.

to put this in perspective, there is a gal who sells mushroom compost for $25 a scoop (plus $20 in gas), or the stupid "soil" from the local mulch place is the same price but is twice as horrible. so i'm in soil heaven and this solves a lot of problems.

and he has a dairy farm so i asked him if he has bottle calves he wants to sell. we laughed at his $225 price for fair calves and told him we wanted grass finished veal. he laughed when we said we'd be happy to take an ugly one with a funny ear and a crazy eye.... and that one was much cheaper.
;-)

so next week we may just take two trucks and load up on compost and a calf!

happy friday is right!

I think it would be pretty funny to have a pasture full of tasty, albeit funny looking, cows...

 I think I've said those exact words in the barnyard too. Here I just get a queer look and the perpetrator waddles away.

Clean? Who wants to be clean...on purpose? Today I brought Ginger and Peach in at the last possible moment and hopped in the shower, put on a skirt and a t-shirt and some earrings, ran to the car......then ran back to the house, because my feet haven't toughened up yet (fortunately!) and I noticed that I'd forgotten to put on shoes......I've done that many times, gotten in my car and got all the way to the office before noticing that I was barefoot. When I rented space next to an insurance guy, he would come out when he saw me drive in, just to see if I'd remembered my shoes that day! :p
