Sorry about your old girl. That is always hard when you have a good dog. Hopefully the puppy will work out. She is way too cute. What breed is she?

the pup is an Akita.. The Big Man had one for years - a darn good dog.

i'd probably prefer a 'real' LGD but that would be another 6 months of lobbying for him to agree.. the Akita was an easy sale AND heaven knows i need a hunter. i can only chase those foxes.. i mean... coyotes... with an axe for so long

our two hard workin dogs (GSD) are great herders and watch dogs.. but they dont bring in the carcasses like we need them too
;-)

if we get the pup there will be a bounty on the head of every varmint in the county!

and yep. our Shady is one good ol' gal. i hold my breath every time she gets up....slowly.. ugh.

Ah, poor old Shady. 17 years old? Wow, that's old. My Brumby is failing too. She got a puncture wound last week while we were gone and the vet said she was too frail to anthesize (sp?) to sew it up. So momma is taking care of it every day, along with 3x/day antibiotics. She's maybe 11 or 12, we don't know since we adopted her as a rescue adult.

Please give Shady a pat on the heat, a scritch behind an ear, and let her know that Auntie Barbara is thinkin' of her.

What is it with puppies this week.. Did you see the one Bee got. Oh wait she went back for another. She got two!!!!! Such a cute little fur ball.

I was on CL today and the animal shelter by my house has a Great Pyrenees up for adoption. He is supposed to be close to a year and oh he's so darn handsome. If only I could bring him home.

Glad to hear your goat is home and doing well. sorry about the computer. yummm on the pie!!!

Oh, you just verbalized my feelings. Brumby reeks, of liver failure, of bad teeth, of everything. I can't stand to be near her very much, and hardly can give her a pet on her boney head or sides, cus she wants to lick lick lick me. I can't get any weight on her, she still wants to be with me 100% of the time (actually its 150% now...so so clingy), and I'm constantly shoo'ing her away with my hands. She's now deaf too.

I feel so so bad.... <<hangs head>>

Ohio- that puppy is so gorgeous. Those little legs are telling me that pup will be huge. What a sweetie.

Murphy- It's heartbreaking to see them so different from the happy, bouncy healthy animal you've always known. I hope she gets better, or that you can make her transition easier. If the wound is still needing bandaged, you might try a honey dressing for it. It helps to sterilize the yucky stuff in wounds. If the smell is from the wound- that might take care of it too.
If the smell is from liver failure I don't know what would help. That's what happened to my girl last year.
