Mine are boring.

Of course that was Ti. He has the Serious look. Also, the way you labeled it, it was a dead giveaway that it was dog number one. He has a dog number One sort of look in that picture, doesn't he?

His pose is just waiting for the series of five hand signals that he can perform not just once, but then again, backwards. Or posing for the Most Intelligent Creature award. :old

But seriously, should I but putting straw down for my poultry in the snow? Mine just stamp through it so we thought them mashing it down was okay. The muscovy SLEEP in in when they have a perfectly warm and straw filled coop. Am I a mean mom to not put down straw?

Forgive me Lord, I'm from Southern California! :weee

yep SKR8PN.. Ti's a white shepherd and who knows - they might be related! and he's a whole lotta hell ya when it comes to guarding, like your neighbor's good dog.

heh heh heh when i take him places i just love tellin' the red necks that 'what they need is a man sized dog like this one' ha!

he doesnt let anyone near me. folks ask me if he's a big baby and i tell 'em 'nope.' i'm not nervous at all when i'm here alone.

and yep, SD. he's pretty serious even as a puppy. he can get all goosey sometimes but he doesnt like shenanigans. but you should see him with Kai - they are a big ball of fun. i love my big dog!

and nope you arent a bad chicken momma for not putting straw down. we are just in a stretch of extreme cold and snow. usually we dont get below zeros, and normally dont have this kind of cold/snow (like we've had most of dec) for this long. the hens are encamped in the hen house and are keeping the ducks out. i also like to do it because we have so many clucks and ducks that the straw gives them something to do..besides pick on each other.

ohmigosh they have been warning us all day about the approaching Snow Doom. boo!

:)

Mornin' , it is still morning? isn't it? It is almost 11 on the left coast and FREEZING still. It was 25* here this morning. Freezes are rare here. Everything was still white, when I looked out the window around 9 am. I keep sitting on my hands in an attempt to warm them up. The living room where the fireplace insert is has warmed up to 60* with the fire going all morning :/ At least it feels warm after being outside or in one of the other rooms.
It is time for me to do my outside rounds. At least the sun is shining.

Stay warm and safe everyone.

And I thought it was cold here! I took the rabbits water b4 I left for work, stopped at the farm and gave my chickens and cat water, then stopped on the way home to give them more water, got home and gave the rabbits water. And, I'll probably have to give the rabbits water again. I want spring too, or at least day time temps above freezing.

I mostly put lots of straw because I have a naked chicken. She won't let me catch her and she has no fat on her to keep her warm. So I wanted to give her a good place to snuggle in - and as OFG says, give the others something to do also. We have about 6 inches of snow here this morning and still coming down, too.

On a positive note - my daughter started to work today - and she went in this snow. Had to walk up a hill to get there. It's at a mental health office and she's only working 20 hrs a week now, but they're going to try to get her more hours because of all the computer skills she has. They even said they would send her to school if she was interested in becoming a counselor. She's been out of work for so long and I'm so proud she had enough work ethic to go in on this horrendous day even though I tried to talk her out of it.
