Every morning I go out and make sure the goats are not dead yet. If I don't see one of them the moment I step out of the back door , I go Oh Oh! and start walking faster. Then I see one of them laying down in the grass and start running, sure that she is on her last breath, as I get closer, she lifts up her head as if to say: what's your problem, did you bring my anything good to eat?
Then it is time to check on the chickens. I check all the corners and do a headcount, yup no dead or half dead chickens. Good.
Next is the rabbit. He loves to hide, so I often have to climb into his pen and under the shelter to track him down.

I just love having my critters  They keep me on my toes.

ha! yeah i KNOW... goats = crazy

i keep thinking a cow would never do this to me...... and hope Hen, its in all of us. and WZ your 'no kidding' totally made me laugh! ha! good catch on the pun, KC!

THANKS SavingD! i'll check it out.. hey you have a kindle?? really?!? do you love it?

the good news is that there are no dead goats out there this morning.

debbie is doing well but mad that i'm not giving her any grain. tough. one more round of B1 today then she should be on the mend. i'm keeping my eye out for ketosis tho just in case.

and we totally got drunk on ham. we got 79 pounds back from the butcher and now there are about 77. ha!
;-)

um... we'll have to do some fancy footwork do be everything into the freezer and i think i'm gonna have to break out the canner.

but it stopped snowing so everyone is happy. especially the dogs. i gave them each a bone and they were in dog heaven. even little Kai got a bone. she is adorable with it. she uses her paws like cats use theirs - she holds stuff..its very funny.

and now.. i think i need more coffee! whooooot!

Goats arent' the only ones to make you panic! I've learned to listen to the different baa's from my sheep and I can definitely tell a normal bleat from an in-trouble bleat! Even with others' sheep I can do that. My darn ram keeps getting his head stuck in the hay feeder. Mo-ron. I also had a ewe get her head stuck in the fence at o'dark thirty at night one time....she was heavy preggo too. Then, another heavily preggo ewe used to get stuck laying on her side and need help getting back up. You'd think after the third time doing that she'd learn not to lay downhill anymore.

Ooh, and one time my buck kid got himself tangled up in some vines. He was standing out in the pasture looking at me, but not coming up to the gate w/ everyone else. He had the vine wrapped under his chest and couldn't move. Twerp.
