katie - these pigs are pretty spendy. the asking price is $75 each.. normally "regular" feeders are around $50 each but we are goin' "whole hog" with these babies! i cant wait for their bacony goodness!
Tams are a little different that other feeder hogs - more bacon and they can be better tempered than some others. i still hate them tho. and so will you! tell your man that the hatin' is worth the bacon!
bacon aside, i'm a little on edge right now. we took Kai in to be fixed today. she is fine - i need a liquid sedative tho(jose cuervo you ARE a friend of mine!).
she woke right up and so the vet said she could just come home tonite. i picked her up but it didnt go very well.
i'm not sure who is so stupid that they'd let their kids run up to a dog at the vet. i mean - any dog at the vet has either just gotten shots, is sick, or is hurt.
but just when they brought kai (still discom-pup-ulated) down the hall some gal let her little kids scream DOGGIE and run at her. but they got me instead.
and just for the record i can and WILL yell at other people's kids. and the parents. and since i speak loudly and with authority, Kai wasnt the only one to wet their pants at the vet office.
we have kai set up so that she doesnt have to walk up/down any steps and mostly she's been sleeping. but we needed to do some fancy re-arranging with the meat chicks still in the house. the vet said the worst part would be keeping her still for the next 10- 14 days (no running, jumping, swimming) because she'd feel fine.
so thats the word here. i need a drink and to sleep for about 10 hours. i hope i dream of bacon.

Ugh, went through that last week when I picked Indy up from being neutered! My son has been taught from the beginning to stay calm around animals and to always ask before approaching.
Last month when I had old Kobi in for whatever it was that went wrong with him I had a little boy get angry when I wouldn't let him give Kobi a treat. My main reason for saying no is that Kobi tends to snap when a treat is dangled in front of his nose. Didn't need that nightmare. Nevermind that the dog was SICK.... the dad gave me a dirty look even though I very sweetly explained that Kobi had a tummy ache and couldn't have a treat. Exactly the kind of dad who would have sued me if Kobi had taken the treat and nipped the kid's finger.
Hugs to little Kai. My Indy is back at the clinic due to complications after his surgery. I will avoid having a large dog neutered as an adult at all costs in the future! Yikes!!!
