thanks justy and all

Kai is doing great and her incision looks really good. we are doing "musical" pets trying to keep the peace tho. we are keeping her away from the other dogs but that leaves us one area short of peace amongst the inside cats.

D - i stared down that mom with a "you want a piece of me" look before she could say anything. the thing is - kai is big. she's probably about 70 pounds so while she is still my pup.. she's a good sized dog. so it was weird on all counts.

poor kai was so freaked out that i took her directly out and the vet tech helped me get her in the truck. when i went back into the office to get my keys and stuff (i left everything on their counter) the family were all clutching each other. if that mom would have said anything i probably would have clocked her.

it was too bad b/c it just ruined the day. it was the vet's surgery day so no one was there and they just basically let me run amok in their office. two of the girls that work here handed me kittens they just got in and we were laughing and chatting about this and that. they took me to the secret back area where they have their rescues so i got a lot of kitten snuggles. and of course they all ooohed and aahed over kai - which made me feel good.

today we are just going to hang out. its cold and cloudy and we just decided today would be an 'inside' day. i'm going to find kai some problems to solve - probably involving peanut butter to keep her busy.

i love the doggy peanut butter licky face!

:)

I had my parent's little mutt dog, Rags, at the vet. An ADULT came over squealing and grabbing for him - but before I could snap at her Rags did. She acted like he was a rabid monster.... umm, leave the poor scared dog alone? At least a kid has the excuse of not being raised up right.

Hard to believe people that stupid make it to adulthood. I LOVE snuggling on other people's dogs, but you DON'T DO IT without PERMISSION!!!!

Sheesh!!!

If I see a dog that I like the looks of, I always ask 2 questions:

1. Does he bite?

2. May I pet him?

That way, if they don't want him (her) to be messed with, they're free to tell me up front. I have yet to have someone tell me NOT to pet their dog, but I would NOT be offended if they said no.

That's what I do Deb. "Can I play with him?"

They usually say yes or no. No is usually, no he isn't friendly. And I say okay and wander off dejectedly, mourning my lack of puppy-love.

LOL

Thought of this while taking my walk this evening. Rio and I walked a mile and on the way back 3 kids - about 6-7yrs old- came up on their bikes. They stopped about 15ft away and one called out "can we come over and pet your dog?"
I was so impressed. Of course, as they were hugging Rio and telling me their life stories (we're twins, we just got back a few minutes ago from New York city, we went to "Canaka" and saw some waterfalls, etc) I reminded them they really shouldn't be talking to strangers, even friendly ones with big loveable huggable dogs. LOL the one little girl looked like I had just pulled bloody fangs and a machete from my back pocket (she had offered to go home and get her "DS" to show me a movie of the falls). I assured them I was safe and told them my name but that maybe they should go play and I'd keep walking and they could talk to Rio another day when their parents were around. They were yelling "Bye Rio, Bye Lori" pretty much as long as we were in hearing distance.
