We spent the today and yesterday cutting wood and cleaning up twigs at my MIL's. We have about 7 loads of wood over at her house just waiting for us to bring it home.
My oldest got home from FCF this afternoon and he did NOT trade the shirt or belt/sashes. :( He is not the negotiating type so I think that had a lot to do with it. He also said that everyone that went to this camp out had a lot of the gear already but in the spring is when a bunch of people join and that is when they are really buying stuff. Well, I guess I have some stuff ready for trading or selling then. Also my one friend will be going then too and he is a big trader and negotiator and is very outgoing and I think he will help him, I hope.
He did get himself a leather belt and a leather case for his Leatherman. He also got me three small white rabbit hides/furs for making a hat and mittens (cuff) for my 5 yo DD. :)

I went to a garage sale yesterday and it was a lady from my old church. I went back today and at the end of her garage sale she gave me ALL of the clothes and ALL of the books I wanted! I got like 7 American Girl book SETS! Half of them were brand new in the box! Then I got like 4 grocery bags full of other children's books! All for $35! She wanted $15 per American Girl book set at her sale! I got like 4 huge garbage bags full of clothes! She had a little table and 2 chairs set that I am wishing I would have asked for now. I am sure she would have given it to me too. By the time I decided I really wanted it 15 minutes later she had already closed up the sale and left. She had the sale at her BIL's house which was only a couple house down from my MIL's. I am thinking I might call her in the morning and see if she will give it to me....maybe.

:barnie I just got this in an email!

From the Department of Life Education:

> Baby Carrots:
>
> The following is information from a farmer who grows and
> packages carrots for IGA, METRO, LOBLAWS, etc.
>
> The small cocktail (baby) carrots you buy in small plastic
> bags are made using the larger crooked or deformed carrots
> which are put through a machine which cuts and shapes them
> into cocktail carrots - most people probably know this
> already.
>
> What you may not know and should know is the following:
> Once the carrots are cut and shaped into cocktail carrots
> they are dipped in a solution of water and chlorine in order
> to preserve them (this is the same chlorine used in your
> pool).
>
> Since they do not have their skin or natural protective
> covering, they give them a higher dose of chlorine.
>
> You will notice that once you keep these carrots in your

> the carrots. This is the chlorine which resurfaces. At
> what cost do we put our health at risk to have esthetically
> pleasing vegetables?
>
> Chlorine is a very well-known carcinogen, which causes
> Cancer. I thought this was worth passing on. Pass it on to
> as many people as possible in hopes of informing them where

> I used to buy those baby carrots for vegetable dips. I know
> that I will never buy them again!!!!

I have not updated for a while so today is probably a good day to do that! LOL!

I think we have 400#'s of potatoes right now! Maybe more!! We dug ours up out of the garden and got SIX 5 gallon buckets full. Our neighbor gave us a FULL feed bag (like to full to even squeeze the top closed) plus like 2 gallons full that would not fit in the bag and then we were given another 100# (actually 150# but I gave 50#'s away) of potatoes today! My 8 yo was drooling thinking about homemade potato chips and bragging on them to the lady we gave the 50#'s of potatoes to!

We were also given a CAR today!! A CAR!! I mean....WOW! How awesome is that! There is actually a picture of the car WAY back in my blog! It is a Pontiac Station Wagon that seats 9. It is OLD but in pretty good shape. Good breaks, tires, everything because it has had to pass PA inspection. The gentleman's wife was so excited when she heard her DH had given us the car. I am guessing he did not tell her about it before he did it! Then she was like "Yeah, that will make a good car for your oldest to learn to drive in and if he hurts it oh well!" I didn't even think of that until she said it! WOOT! I think he can get his permit at 15 1/2 in Ohio so that is in 5 months! Lord knows I do not want him driving my van and DH needs his car for going back and forth to work. What a blessing!! Praise God!!

One of my turkey babies, one of the four I hatched in the middle of summer, died tonight. :hit I am not sure why. No obvious signs.

We just had our last night, of three, for a SUPER AWESOME speaker at out church. I am considering skipping church tomorrow night but I have responsibilities. I am wondering how many other people play hookie tomorrow night??

I think other than that it is pretty much the same 'ole same 'ole around here.

I am probably not going to can any up. I just want to make mashed potatoes, perogies, potato soup, chips, and French Fries. I might dehydrate some of this winter.
Last year our potatoes stayed good until time to plant them in the spring and then they sprouted eyes.

Scrip orders did not get turned in on time ( :he I am not in charge of that part of the fund raising program and the lady just frustrates me who is!) so they are not in today so I do not have any responsibilities at church tonight! I am so playing hooky!! DH can take the 5 older kids and the baby and I can stay home and have some one on one time! :love Translation: I won't be able to accomplish anything! LOL!

The weather is absolutely gorgeous here today! The kids got a few loads of manure from our compost pile we had going and scattered it in the garden and then my oldest got half of it tilled up. He plans on tilling the other half tomorrow because he wants the weeds pulled out of the other side.

I am going to a TOMBOY TOOLS party on Friday night, Betty is having it. I am planning on getting the older three boys some good tape measures and utility knives for Christmas to start their Tool Chests. I remember my mom starting me a 'Hope Chest' when I was their age. It was basically small appliances and kitchen/household stuff for when I got out on my own. I figure now would be a good time to start doing that for my boys. Then maybe they will leave their Dad's tools alone!

Tomboy Tools, let me guess its like a Tupperware party but with really cool useful stuff???
Yes! Kind of! It has Pink tools...and blue ones. They are of a little better quality than you can get at Lowe's and more expensive of course! Plus shipping and handling is outrageous! :he They do not have much of a selection. I mean we already have nearly everything they sell, and then some of course! I do not think we have THAT many tools. It is mostly for women that have NEVER had to do ANYTHING in their lives! Most all of the tools are basic stuff everyone should have but some of the young ladies at the last party I went to had never even seen some of these tools before let alone knew what they were used for. I am not talking young ladies as in teenagers I am talking about ladies in their mid 20's! :hu But, I really like the tape measures!!

I should have gone to church! Baby girl was running around here getting in to everything like she was on something and one of the ladies from church had her baby TWO WEEKS ago and brought the baby tonight!! :love DH says the baby girl is just a tiny little peanut! I do love me some babies!! Now there is at least three other ladies at our church that are pregnant....and I am not one of them. :(
Now that baby girl is almost ready to be potty trained and she looks so much like a toddler I am totally getting the baby bug! The worst part is that it is to cold to have baby animals to pacify me! Oh well! I will live!
