I have got to rant!! I am feeling much calmer now but, earlier I was ready to SCREAM!!! :barnie
I was asked to coach the second softball team at my church. Well now 'they' (they being the other coach and one or two other players) have decided that they want a more 'aggressive' team and Ron, the other coach, was picked to coach that team. There are over 20 people that have now signed up to play. You can only play 10 people on the field. So Ron wants to pick who he wants on his 'aggressive' team and I just get whoever he does not want!! No negotiating who is on whose team. No making the teams fair. I just get whoever he does not want. Problem is everytime I mention a name on the list...even if it is a 12 year old that has NEVER played before....well he wants them on his team!!! Ron is already trying to schedule practices for MY team too! I have NO say what so ever but HE is the one that asked me to coach the other team!!
I feel like it is very much coming acrossed like if you are not chosen to be on Ron's team then you are a crappy player. First off Ron only has TWO aggressive players!!! And one of them does not even want to play on his team because our church just does not have enough quality players for him to waste his time to be on the team! And the other aggressive player is our children's pastor!!!!!
Don't even get me started on how HORRIBLE of a player Ron is and how unorganized he is!!
I have pretty much come to the decision that if he can not make the teams fair and stop calling one team the 'aggressive' team making my team feel like it is the loser team I am not going to coach. In every sports thing I have ever been in it is called a STACKED team!! Or they are going to have to go to one huge team. Or he is going to get permission from our Pastor to have a stacked team and then I will shut up and just let him pick the players!!

And one of the players he wants on his team.....SHE does not even want to play, doesn't even like softball...but, because she is 'pretty' and that is why he wants her on his 'aggressive' team!! She can not even play!!! But, he keeps begging her to play!! :he

Have you considered just telling Ron to coach both teams since it appears that is what he plans to do anyway?

Sounds like this may be more of headache than its worth.

Of course - I have a tendency to get a little hot under the collar on occasion and Ron probably would never cross my path again and the preacher would have to pay a visit to me at home and ask me not to come back to church. LOL So my advice is probably not the best.

But I do know how frustrating all that can be.

You will figure it out, I am sure.

I decided to call Ron as soon as I posted this and told him that he had three choices 1) make the teams fair 2) or find another coach 3) make one team. And if they were going to continue to stack the teams and just find another coach then I wanted them to get approval from the Pastor then!
Ron is a people pleaser so all he said was "Your'e right. Your'e right." So, we will see how much changes but, I know that I am sticking to my decision.
Then my DH got home just after I got done talking to my mom about how the conversation went with Ron went. His response was: They are acting like this is some school yard pick and that they are just setting my team up to be the scrimmage team...because Ron wanted to control when ALL of the practices were for my team too...that his team could just come in and womp!
Then I was talking to my BFF and telling her about this and told her about the more 'aggressive' and that I had the other team. She immediately said "Oh you got the old lady loser team!" So, I am not crazy thinking that my team is going to get labeled as the loser team! She even said that it sound liked so shcool yard bully pick too! I just had to laugh because DH had just got done saying that!
If Ron does call and get the Pastor to be OK with stacking the teams and Pastr tells me it is OK....whew...that poor guy will be getting an earfull on my take on it!!
I also told my DH that if it does come to the point that 'we' have to talk to the Pastor about the team stacking then DH is the one who is going to be doing the talking!! Otherwise I will probably be getting us kicked out of the church if Pastor approves stacking the teams!!

Whoa, Pam, I'd be upset, too, but please, remember your blood pressure?

Take a few deep breaths and let it all just simmer for a bit. Don't work yourself up anymore over it. You talked to the other coach, so now the ball is in his court, so to speak. Just let it ride out for now. If things don't change, then talk to your minister.

:)

My mom reminded me of my bp and helped me keep calm. I MADE her go with me to the meeting because she said she would be the assistant coach for me. I was already a little miffed before I even went to the meeting because Ron scheduled the meeting to start with and did NOT even tell me there was going to be a meeting! He asked my DH yesterday at the men's breakfast if I was going to be coming and my DH told him that I probably did not even know about the meeting because I never said anything to him. So, I called Ron yesterday and that is when I first learned of this 'aggressive' team crap! My mom is the one who kept me calm and told me to just not coach unless they played fair. So, I just took her advice.

I feel a million times better now that I called him and told him how I feel and laid down my guide lines so now you are right QA the ball is in his court.

It is just funny that when I talked to Ron yesterday his assistant coach from last year did not want to help him this year but then was signed up to be his assistant coach today at the meeting! Then was telling me "Pam just wait until we pick our players because we are picking an 'aggressive' team." It sounded like she wanted to be on the 'aggressive' team and not the 'loser' team so in order to guarentee that she was on the 'aggressive' team she took the assistant coach position again but if she were in my shoes she would not find it fair and would have felt just like I felt! :rant

Hey darlin', how is everything going today? How are you and your beautiful children doing? I'm sorry to hear about your softball team...my hubby quit his team cause of the same sort of politics. It was crazy the way they were so competitive over church league softball....like it was the majors or something! It was fun for him the first year but it went downhill after that. I hope everything gets worked out for you, I know you were looking forward to playing again.

Thanks Lori! I am doing great today! My mom finally talked me into checking my bp last night and it was 132/80. This afternoon it was 127/80!! Of course that is still with medication....but it is definetly getting better!!

Yep, baby girl is still super tiny! She is starting to fill out her preemie clothes though. Newborn clothes are still huge on her. I take her back tot he peditrician on March 5th so I will be able to see how much weight she has gained then.

I put 34 of my Black Jersey Giant eggs in the 'bator last night so let's hope I do not kill this batch too!! I REALLY REALLY want some peeps!! And I just can not justify buying any when I have such nice chickens of my own, two 'bators, and fertile eggs!
