nice could get blacks, chocolates, seal, and siamese, if hes carrying for dilute you could also get blue,
and tort is also a possibilty! they could give ya a rainbow :p
Put her in with bigwig this morning and had sucess, will rebreed this afternoon to be sure. :)

had another sucessful tie with jasper and ruby too, till go for one more tomorrow and then thats done. its a little funny to watch because hes about an inch too short for "ease" but theyare creative and hes figured if he gets situated then stands on one leg it gives him just enough extra height to get the job done

odly, still no babies from bluebell, she got rather mad this morning when i checked the nest for signs of fur (or wigglers) and spent the entire 1/2 hour it took me to scoop and fed and such rebuilding it the enitre time hufing and grunting about it (shes a talker lol) but then i came in and thought, i wondr..checked my dates and shes not due untill tomorrow LOL. i feel silly.
will be interesting to see if she goes tonight since she was spot on last time
and Holly and Hazel are not due untill mid next week. this is why me and math arnt friends...aparently i cant count for beans lol.

today is general clean up day. want to get the basics done and try and give the bathroom and kithen a real good cleaning today, want to scrub the fish tanks and top up too. and might borrow the neighbors broom and get the carport and front patio swept off. then later this afternoon might do some weeding in the front garden patch.
tomorrow is going to be a bit of a crazy day, off to adamsville in the morning, then hanging with cindi in the afternoon for a bit/delivering Rowan.
and friday will be final clean up day, need to wash the sheets off my bed and ill run the vacume and mop around one more time ect.
theres not much to do realy, but i do want the place at least looking tidy for when they come.

still no solid responces from babbit emails so i may end up taking them to the flea market on saturday morning, hoping i can get there, get them sold and get home, but if not ill have some lunch goodies and the coffee pot on for them if they arrive before i get back (they have a key)

so yeah, just going to get some stuff online sorted, then time to get my tuckus in gear.

I wish you were close to me, I would love to have standard rex! I bought the largest mini rex I could find but they are still small. I like to tan the hides, and do use them for meat. But that is one of the breeds that you just can't find around here.

yeah iowa is a bit of a drive lol
But if your ever down this way gimme a shout and i can set you up with a nice trio if ive got some warning :D

I knwo what you mean though.
Drove almost 4 hours one way to get Bigwig (and came home with blackberry and rowan too so it wasnt too bad for 3 bunnies but still, LONG drive) and bluebell came from almost 3 hours way.
im not sure there "rare" around here but the standards are hard to find in general (and GOOD standards even harder) i looked at a few before i got bluebell and thier Adults were 7-8lbs tops, so i passed, my standard buns are all in the 10-10 1/2, so i think alot of folks are breeding large mini rex to large mini rex (or mini rex to standards) to try and increase whats available with out having to put much money in (LOTS of mini rex around here lol and if it wasnt for my desire for the plush lop adventure i wouldnt have minis at all because they are a dime a dozen)

i think there just not as popular here because there "too big" for the people looking for pets who for whatever daft reason want minis and dwarfs and have no clue about how the smaler the bun the more tempermental and fragile it is) and there too slow growing for the meaty folks...
they dont get that there still fryers are 4 months and easily roastable up to 8 months, i dont think standards realy enter the STEW category untill there almost ayearold in terms of emat quality where as NZ's and Calis once they get past 6 months there stew only....and i dont think most people want the fur for serious stuff so dont want to dedicate about 6 months to growing out a rabbit waiting for the prime pelt.
Dont get me wrong at 12 weeks a rex pelt even though think is still in my opinion nicer than any other rabbit pelt, but you gotta give em 6-8 months if you want real quality and people dont want to feed soemthing there going to kill for that long...

they will always be my breed of choice though for dual purpose...
Right now im trying to sell as many babies as possible but thats only because i need them to pay for themselves right now...
once the project hits the break even point and they are comfortably paying for thier own feed/shavings/hay any that dont sell ill happily raise up to the 6 month point ad then butcher for meat AND pelt.

heck Strawberry and Silver are Just about 8 weeks old now and already almost as big as my 5lb mini rex so they realy dont grow all that much slower than commercial breeds who are usually butcherd at 5lbs or 12 weeks whichever comes first.

im still playing dance around the thorny bush with emailers...this is ridiculous.
got one guy who wants one but cant come this week, says if i can hold one he can probably make it next week if not he wants to know when the next litter is ready...
1 word answer lady has not been back to me at all
and another eamilaer again no responce (but its a week day and i only cntatcted her back yesterday so ive not given up quite yet onher.
mr. local "couple of bunnies" hasnt been back to me either.
but the person taking the 3 does emailed me to see if id also be willing to sell silver...this is the same person who gave me such hassel over the price...im not selling him either way but even if i were given his age and how hes turningout, wouldnt le thim go for less than $25, and shes not willing to pay more than $15 so...sorry.
Told her though that id repeated that breeding and i can hold back a buck if she has one that looks lke him but i ask $25 for babies form that breeding at 6 weeks and price goes UP the longer i keep them... id be nice and let her have a buck from that litter for 20 if she picked up spot on 6 weeks but thats as low as id go...

i cant belive how much trouble im having getting this group sold!?
Id realy rather not drive all the way to the flea market this weekend, but looks like im going to have to. just hope i have better luck there than ive been having online.
do you think 8 week old pure bred rex will sell for $15 a peice at crump cindi?

anywho, take a 5 min break, got some more dishes (had t take 5 while they dry so ive got space) and the kitchen to finnish up...still need to do the fish tanks too...
neighbor brought a broom over so i can sweep, but the weeding is going to have to wait, mabe ill have time on friday.

Price them at $25 each or $45 a pair and be willing to go down from there. And don't forget to bring boxes or bags or something the people can take them home in, it seems nobody ever brings that, and are prone to impulse buys instead. Folks DO like to talk you down on the rabbits. They should sell fairly easily though. I could call a few folks and see if they'd like some if ya want me to when I get home from church tonight. If I find much interest I may buy them all to resell if it'd be easier for you. I think I may be going anyway, because I can get my hands on some fawn and white runners that are half grown, and several little chicks and ducklings. So I may be setting up for a little spare cash flow myself.

if you can ask around that would be great.
good idea on going higher...assuming this person comes on friday theres 5 of them left and id realy like to get $15 each or $70 for the group...my biggest issue with the flea market is also id have to keep change on me lol, if i could sell em for $20 a pop just so i wouldnt have to break a $20 id be all set lol.
will have to go through my boxes and make sure ive got enough too.
I wouldnt mind keeping them another week if i have to, but with mum and dad comming it makes arranging for pick ups a pain in the tuckus for the next 2 weeks, i dont want to have to say "no we cant do such and such yet cause i have to wait on this person picking up thier rabbit...

as a side note had somone on a facebook group arguing with me that its illegal to sell the babbits now because there only 7 weeks and its ILLEGAL to sell them before 8 weeks...
shes in VA btw
its funny because 1: theres no lawas on the books for any animals re- age to sell
2: the law in VA is rabbits must be 7 weeks old LMAO.
Gotta love people who want to try and fight you based on "facts" there making up on the spot lol.

woot!
tiny tim the male black otter looks like he has a home. the guy cant get here untill early next week but hes sent $5 deposit

So...that leave a sable point male, a sable point female, and 2 black otter females (assuming the person taking the 3 girls comes)
since rowan has a home lined up i MIGHT keep the sable point female at this rate instead of buying another meat doe.
so ive decided im not going to fuss with the flea market This weekend...i dont htink its worth it to sell just the 4 of them...(3 if i do keep the additional sable point female)
if they dont sell while mum and dad are here, i can take them to the flea market after mum and dad leave.
this gives me 2 more weeks to advertise them, i can tell one word answer lady she can come by next week...see if she wants...gives a little mroe room for the ummers and the ahh's

dinner was Nommy!

And i managed to get the tanks scrubbed and topped up, trash is out...
and i popped open a couple cans of peaches to freeze for smoothies over the next few days (i have no ice lol)

feeling quite acomplished!

Good deal on the bunnies :woot And the chore list crossed off ;)

Do you have a way to store potatoes? Crawl space under the house etc.? Do you think you could give some to neighbors, the mailman, etc etc.? I have about 1400 more pounds that DESPERATELY need a home LOL! PLEASE say you can help!!!!! You can have as many as you can handle/give out/shoot from a potato gun, whatever :p

i wish i knew more people...
ive got visions of you going door to doo leaving boxes of taters with a note that says "please help us...were homeless" on random doorsteps ringing the doorbell and RUNNING!
