thanks :)

the bad news is shes still not home...
the good news however is dad swears he saw her run along the fence line on the hill...

so it looks like shes being a naughty teenager and just doesnt want to come home yet, very unlike her, but if dad says he saw her then im going to take his word for it...
(especially considering dad would be more than happy if she had just "dissapeared" he doesnt like haveing all the pets we have and is not a big fan of cats...despite the fact shes the one that keeps the mice away from the chicken feed...*rolls eyes*)

so yeah...

i swear...kitty is going to be gps tracker tagged when she gets home so i ALWAYS know where she is LOL!

well some good news, but REALY annoying news all at the same time...
Tempi has been found...

now for the annoying part...
where..
at the shelter...
the same shelter i called first thing wednesday morning and left a description and my telephone number, the same shelter i emailed with a picture and second description of her on weds afternoon, and the same shelter i dropped a handfull of flyers with her description and picture on at YESTERDAY...

and NOONE let me know...

heres the story...
i decided to do a little foot work this morning...i figured dad said he thought he saw her, mabe shed got trapped in a garage down at the industrial estate....
so down i go, nothing...
so i decided hey ill stop by the shelter in person again this morning and just remind them shes still missing and to keep their eyes peeled....

well a very nice lady stopps and tells me to wait a second...
then has me go upstairs where my cat is lay on the vet table, tummy shaved and a vet with a scalpel is just seconds from slicing her open...

turns out...
theyd had someone drop off a cat in a carrier on tuesday afternoon on their doorstep, the cat had clawed its way out and theyd set up traps on the hill to hopefully catch the little bugger...
well instead they caught tempi...ON WEDNESDAY MORNING...yes after id called and before id emailed them...
they had my cat there at the shelter when i emailed them AND when i whent by yesterday to drop off flyers, but because they dont have open house during the week they wouldnt let me in to check their holding cages to see if she was there insisting they dont have a cat that matches that description.

my cat has been in their posession since early wednesday morning! ive called emailed and been by and noone has even thought that the small black cat with the white slpodge on the chest that they caught on wedsnesday morning, that still has milk in her glands, might be the same small black cat with white splodge on her chest still feeding 3 6 week old kittens at home that id called emailed AND spoken too and dropped off flyers about.

luckily the vet and the woman handling everything today was very nice...
i had tempi booked in at the spay clinic for 2 weeks from now anyway (soonest theyd do it because of nursing kittens), and she said because of the mix up and noone calling or telling me theyd caught a cat matching my description about 10 ft from my house, they would do the spay for the cost of the anesthesia...
so at 6pm and $25 later ill have my silly (and ever so naughty) little girl back home safe and sound...now...anyone know where i can find a gps tracking kit incase this happens again....

worse of all, shes microchipped...they didnt even scan her! the woman even admitted to me today that they just assumed someone had let her have kittens kept the babies and dumped her and hadnt even botherd scanning her for a chip.

im SOOOO relived that she is safe (and that they are going to spay her for me which not only saves me a 1 hour one way trip to the low cost clinic, but also means i dont have to worry about her slipping out again and getting caught in heat before that point....)
but im SOOOOO angry...
i mean it isnt like i sat at home twiddlng my thumbs about this whole thing...i called them, emailed them, talked to them in person, printed flyers, and the ENTIRE time my cat was sat in one of their cages just behind a locked door they wouldnt let me even check for her...

aparently she spent all day weds and thursday SCREAMING and calling and clawing at the cage bars too trying to get out (im assuming to get home) and they were "just a little worried" that she might have kittens hiding in the grass somewhere...

WTF? if shes putting up that much of a fuss and you think she might have kittens outside why not let her out and follow her, shes going to either lead you to her house, OR shes gong to lead you to her babies...either way she would have been home long before now...
they thing she sprung the trap on tuesday evening (which makes sense as to why she didnt come home tuesday night) and they picked her up early (about 7am) on weds morning in the trap...

and to top it off, if i handt found her when i did or caught a very NICe person with a brain they would have spayed AND declawed her (i find declawing barbaric but they do it to any cat that comes in thats not spay/neutered because "its easier to find them homes") and put her up for adoption...

oh but heres the kicker...as im entering the office one of the workers goes "we wouldnt have called her if she hadnt have shown up...that cat deserves a better home"
WTF...i dont think she thought i could hear her, and the woman she said it too looked a lttle shocked and discusted...but the fact of the matter being a paid worker made it sound like they KNEW the cat was the one from the missing poster AND if i handt have shown up when i did...i would never have gotten her back either.

*deep breath*

the manager of the shelter HATES me, i used to work there but complained and when my complaints whent unheard, quit when i found out kicking and screaming at the dogs and cats was a "normal part of training" and some other not so good stuff going on behind the scenes...
but i figured its been over 7 years...theyll not even remember me...and hey, they supposedly do this for the love and protection of animals...

yeah not so much.

id write a complaint letter but i know it wouldnt do any good because the person that aparently reads the letters and emails either doesnt pay attention, or doesnt care.

*grumbles*

i told the babies id found their momma...they kind of looked at me like "and?" but the dogs got very excited LOL!

now i just have to wait for 6pm to roll around so i can go bring my baby home.

in the meantime i think im going to tidy this place up.
got visitors comming tomorrow and someone comming to buy my extra parrot cage on sunday *fingers crossed* so this place needs at least a little "spring cleaning" going on...and i need to do something to 1: calm myself down and 2: make the day go by a little faster.

I'm so glad you got your kitty back. :celebrate
That place needs a wake up call. I don't believe that de-clawing should ever be considered a standard practice, :rant and they really need to make it easier for people to check for their pets.

thanks guys, just got back from picking her up and shes definatly happy to be home, theres alot of talking going on...

they gave me the usual "dont do this, do do that" checklist for an apres spay routein...
love it...
keep pet calm and white, avoid jumping running and stair climbing...no food for an hour...
stair climbing wont be a problem but no sooner did i let her out than she jumped off the bed ran across the room jumped onto the couch down onto her feeding station and started screaming at me for food...
yup, shes going to give me any option what so ever in the "keep her calm" category...
shes not groggy, not tired and not showing any signs that she even cares, shes just VERY happy to be home and i cannot tell you how happy i am to have her home...
oh goodness...

shes sooooo grounded!

now, just gotta figure out how to lowjack my cat...its all well and good her having a chip but they aprently dont scan for them...so now i need to find and hook a gps tracker preminently to my cat as a just in case...

shes having a good old conversation with her babies though LOL!

side note, after she downed her food...i called the shelter and was told, well she probably didnt get fed on wednesday because thats the day she arrived and we only give water on arrival days....then they wouldnt have fed her thursday or today because of the spay schedual....
poor girl hasnt eaten anything since tuesday afternoon...no wonder she was ready to chew the can open herself.

but they did have time to re-name her...

they bring her down from the recovery area...
"heres athena..."
"thanks, but her name is tempi..."
"well athena is a MUCH better name..dont you think?!"
"her name is Tempi...right mush face?"
"puroww"
"she should be called athena, she was smart enough to find us..."
"actually more like she was stupid enough to walk into a trap...i think ill keep her name as it is..."
"but athena is better..."
"and her name is Tempi..."
"PURRRRRWWWWWW!!!!"
i took that as tempi telling me it was time we came home...

*deep breath*

I have OUT and I have **** TONS of litter. I think **** ton is a good measurement for litter. Just saying.

So I'm about to empty boxes, clean them, Out them, and refill them and hopefully end the kittehs aginst steenky litter campaign.
