in health news...
slept better last night, weird dreams though
feeling a little better today, heads still achey/poundy but i dont feel uite so hazy, and food was a little more apealing this morning.
no plans for today i told the frined that was hoping to come over we need to rain check, i dont have the enrgy to be entertaining toight/tomorrow.
ive got the craft project for the commission to work on...need to realy get that finnished...
ive also got to pull the baby parrotlets today...ust getting their brooder up to temperature.
incubators inda rocking too...
no baby ducks hatched yet but lots of little pips and tiny cracks starting up...worrying momma wonders when i step in and help, but i know they gotta do it themselves. so im just checking regualy out of excitment knowing a watched pot never boils.
temps are kinda nice today but its a little overcast, i may go outside and do a little weeding in the front flower bed.
to my suprise the clematis i planted lst spring that flat out dissapeared on me about 2 weeks afte planting...its RETURNED!!! nothign at all last year, i just aumed it lost....but nope i noticed it this morning, about 2" of very obvious clematis vine next to my hydrangea.
ome of my fruit sticks are starting to pop buds, right now 3 out of 6 are definatly good to go...the other 3 are uestionable...
my rugosa roses are also starting to pop, looks like 5 of the 6 are good.
the blackberries are starting to get tiny little leaves on them, as are the raspberies....still too early to tell on those.
im hoping the other 3 tres come back to life....
baby babbits are all starting to scoot around like crazy tornados now and the bigs are learninguickly what dirt is lol, there nto digging so much as shuffling round the top 1/2 inch lol.
mum an dads house hunt in NJ is on...
theyve got a list but theres 2 properties that REALY catch their eyes, so there trying to get more info on those. the 1 agent they are currently working with spent forever on the phone sent them a bunch of listings (yet not others that mum specificall asked about) and then hasnt been in contact with them in almost a week, so mums doing her own homework, following up on some she likes, calling ect.
they have to sue one of the company aproved realtors to get the benefits, but still...its frustratig for them when mums finding these perfect propertie online nd this womans only sending 1 or 2 back plus a bunch that are NOTHING like what they wanted (townhouses with neighbors attatched on both sides, and no back yard, 2-3 beds when dad said 3 is absolutleminimum and they realy need 4...ect)
theyll get it figured though.
and yeah thats all i got for now. need to work on some crafty stuffs...and go stare at the incubator to try and will the ducks to hatch with the power of my mind! lol
Glad you're having a good hatch. Some of mine have tiny skylights in their eggtopias now and some you can see a wee lil beak poke out once in a while You'll loose some of the excitement after hundreds of hatches like I have done, but it's always exciting to see how many make it into the world. I have quit watching hatches unless it's a new breed or new species...it's just not quite what it used to be, but I will be on the edge of my seat to see if those Legbars make it next week
got my fingers crossed on those legbars, its a breed im definatly considering a little group of...
were up to #3 now....there like little contortionists lol, how they break the shell from that angle is beyond me, they pip upside down and eventually push out butt first and its like...umm hey ducky, wheres your head?!
i like being able to check regularly as well though cause waterfowl imprint (unlike chickens).
i think ive got 2 more thatll make it into the world before bedtime...and another 2 i think may be with us by moring it amazing how fast thigns are moving now theyve gotten started...its like they needed the encoragment of that first baby to realy get going.
Yeah they are contortionists Glad you're having such a good time watching them hatch. I'm having a hard time maintaining consciousness right now...feel like I'm going to pass out, dizzy, and faint... :/
well the headcount for the day is 6 +1 (well comeback to that)
whised themout of the incubator, added more water and locked it back down.
got 7 more definatly viables and a bunch of unsures...
then theres +1, who is going to bemiracle if he survives, dont knowexactly what happend but when i took the other 6 out hed popped half his sellf open bUT olk not absorbed and blood supply hadnt been turned off, hes still breathing an i ont have the heart to kill him (or desire to open the ingubator again, i know ever ounce of humidity lost makes it ust a little harder for them) so ill see how hes doing in the morningi didnt pull the rest of the shell away i left him be, his head and 1/2 his body is free but his tuckus and yok ac are still in the other half ot the egg.
i hightl doubt hell make it to morning but....stranger things hve happend.
looks like for definat though (assuming my heat lamp works out (i need a new bulb for my adjustabl one so ive ot a 60w bulbin there as close to the floor as possible but stll above ducky head height) the brooder is more than big enough for them to move away too if itdoe get too hot diectly under there.
not sure what tomorrows plan is...but its defintl time for me to go to bed.
well thats 10 ducklings in the brooder, 9 eggs in the incubator that look like theyve got somethign alive inside them and i swear i heard a little scratching...
goign to give them till weds since i did put the last few eggs in a day or 2 after the first few...
theres also 3 that im fairly sure are no-go's but will also give them till wednesday. fludis topped up when i removed the 4 that hatched yesterday/last night and were a no entrance zone now till weds.
picked up chick starter today cause i HAD to....and bought milk
have given the ducks andgeese acess to the backyard fo the day (and will every day thi s next 2weeks if the weathers nice, to let them get a start on "mowing" the weds for me, figure its free food and my weed patch realy does need a hair cut, so why not let them earn their keep.
got to go feed the baby parrotlets in a few mins, looks like ive got both green babies sold, and a possible on the yellow...we'll see.
looks like, right now...all 4 are girls (p-lets are sexually dymorphic) what are the odds of that huh?!
the littlest one i cant be sure of and the yellow one...i see a few little blue feathers on the wing possibly comming (females wouldnt have blue on the wing) so it might suprise me yet...
once thats dot im thinking might be a good day to give ruby a bath
shes desperate for a hair cut and my blades due to arrive tomorrow (its AT the post office...but s we know thats not how it works and ill have to wait till tomorrow since mail goes out early and it didnt get there untill 10:30 am...*GAH!*
but shoudlnt clip a irty coat anyway so i can bath and blow dry her today and then trim her out tomorrow.
jasper and dozer also need baths but ruby is pretty desperate LOL!
