What a gorgeous 3-4 days we have had - mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60s-low 70s. Monday evening it was so nice that I grilled steaks. It's been a while for that. I miss being able to grill in the cold winter months.

Also on Monday, the boys got their 4-wheelers out. Josh (one of DS' best buds) wanted to ride my DS' dirt bike. He had never ridden one before. They were up at the building and we didn't know about it.

So, ya'll know how the throttle on a dirt bike is different than a 4 wheeler? (thumb throttle for 4 wheeler and wrist throttle for dirt bike) Well, this dirt bike is really powerful. Josh got on and in trying to hang on he opened the throttle wide open. Did about a 50 ft. wheelie and crashed into DH's farm plows in the corner of the field.

His brother drove him back to the house in his truck. By the time I saw him his knee was swollen to 3 times the normal size. I called his parents and they took him to the ER. Long story short - nothing broken, but he may have severe ligament damage. He is in a huge knee brace with crutches.

Saw him last night at our birthday party. His mom, her sister and I share the same birthday (Feb. 10th) so we all went out to eat. He is doing OK, with some good pain meds.

I should finish up the PJ pants today that I've been working on. I don't know why, but those things have confused me greatly.

DH is still only hauling about 1/3 of his regular wood quota. They have reduced it that much for about a month now. We heard where Abitibi-Bowater plans on shutting down several paper mills. We just don't know which ones yet.

Tomorrow, my DS and his other best bud are going to take a class to become certified in gas line maintenance. DH and I will probably go to pick up the greenhouse, get seed potatoes, corn seed and hit JoAnns fabric store.

Do not despair - pants ARE hard.

I usually sew leg and side seams first - then I stick one leg inside of the other one and sew the crotch seam. Try it with a finished pair of pants first so you can see.

Good luck.

Things are beginning to get busy. I've been working in the greenhouse quite a bit. Yesterday, I planted about 600 tomatoes to sell around the first of April in gallon pots. I also planted about 400 peppers.

I've also been sewing alot. Got the pj pants done and made matching mother/daughter aprons for my SIL and niece. I cut the fabric for another apron today.

I think our groundhog was right (eary spring) The buds are beginning to show on our red maple and saucer magnolia tree. Although, it's supposed to be in the 20's for a couple of nights, so they will probably get bit.

For about the past month, I have been waking up with lower back pain. It would go away during the course of the day. Sunday morning (2/15), I had some pain in my right side. Sunday evening, I was in severe pain. It eased off after about a couple of hours. Monday morning, I was fine. Picked up a load of laundry, and BAM, it hit me again. DH took me to the ER. Doc said the tube from my kidney to my bladder was dilated. He didn't say anything about still having a stone. I actually thought I might have passed it, cause I felt fine even before I left. ER doc gave me pain pills.

I was fine till about 4:00 today. It hit again. Long story short, my OB/GYN read the catscan. He said I may still have the stone (I thought it may have been something else).

Anyway, after a couple of hours, I'm OK again.

My pantry is getting bare, but it's hard to think about going to the store, picking up a gallon of milk, and the pain hits again.

Hope you feel better soon, punkin! :hugs

Sometimes kidney stones can be caused by magnesium deficiency, and a soak in Epsom salts may help in that case.

In my early 20's I had a kidney stone and was given instructions to mix up and drink 1/2 cup lemon juice with 1 gallon water each day. The acid in the lemon juice is supposed to break down the calicum deposit in the stone. I made lemonade instead. ;)

My wishes and prayers are with you. I am way too familiar with the pain problem. When you hurt even little things take so much planning and simply wear you out.

Just remember - no matter what is wrong with your body - extra rest will always help.
Don't feel even the tiniest bit guilty for letting some things go and just resting awhile.

Thanks a bunch, ya'll. Actually, I've done very well today.

We got home at about 3 a.m. this morning from taking my Aunt to the ER. I was really hurting when I got home. It eased some overnight. When I got up it was very painful again, but I made it to the hospital to see her before 9 a.m. I know alot of prayers went up for me and that is why the pain just about disappeared.

My aunt is feeling better and they think she has gallstones. Not an acute case, so surgery probably won't be necessary. We should be able to see the Dr. tomorrow.

My primary care Dr. wants me to come in for an Xray in the morning. He is a great Dr. When my mom was in her last days with lymphoma, he would stop by the house to make sure she was in no pain. I have his home number, and when I had to take my dad to the ER a few years ago, I called him. He called the ER and made sure he was given the best care until he could get there. Having that kind of medical care is a great blessing.

I'm really pushing the fluids so maybe I can flush it on out. :fl
