yep. thems pigs for ya. 'ceptin' i just dont see the 'smart' end of it. i have a little hen thats 4 times smarter.

but i love bacon enough and when the killin's done its totally worth it. we use pork for everything - especially ground pork. so all my hatin is worth it. tonite we are having big ham steaks.

so are you ready to just have electric fence? this made our life so much easier.

and in all seriousness.... they arent even big yet. so not only will they be more ridiculous they will very soon be dangerous. pretty soon they will just walk thru whatever fencing you have to get to you and that bucket. i would not ever get into the pen to feed them, really.

if you can work on your set up, it will be worth it. really.

and now you know why i didnt feel one bit when The Big Man walked in and shot those stupid pigs in the head.

but it is probably not even worth the trouble if you don't eat much pork. (The dilemma I'm currently in. roll )

i think we could justify pigs - at first - b/c we both really like chops!


but we just changed what we ate vs tried to grow we we ate (we dont have pasture for lamb/beef). for instance, The Big Man wants chili so i'm making a pork based chili. for a while there he' come home from work and say 'hi honey what are we having for dinner?' and i'd say PORK! like it was a big surprise

the pork thing works for us b/c we can feed them what we grow. once we get this stupid lot cleared it will be little lambi-kins as far as the eye can see

now if i can just grow tequila and health insurance.....

ofg - I get what you're saying, and well, I'm scared they'll out grown and demolish that kennel before I get the electric fence pen done inside the cow pasture.

And what's more, I do have the space for beef, and am already set up for it, and have 3 head out there now....so I'm wondering if the pigs even worth it? I mean, we do eat waaay more beef and poultry than pork....so....

And FF, I don't think even Kermit the frog would say he was enamored with Miss Piggy.

And once I have all the when's ironed out for our piggie roast, anyone within driving distance that want's to eat with us will be invited.
