How do you feel about visiting up north to see some Polk relatives (some are frizzle, I think) after the nice weather returns? Let me know...... ;)
Well, I'll have to run it by the straw boss and let you know ;) but I'd love to come up!

Might have to be a weekday, though, as my next 4 Saturdays are obligated to Chick Days in Carrollton! :D

Actually, these were not sold on eBay. Where I sold these, buyers can leave feedback, but sellers cannot as far as I know. I'll just leave it at that.

I did message her and said I could do one of two things:
1) re-ship to her this coming Monday or
2) refund the $6.01 she paid for the eggs.

I'm waiting for her reply.

This experience, though, is a good example of why I'm afraid to list my eggs on eBay.

I'm going to try to list my hatching eggs on my local craigslist and see how that goes. I think local people should be able to just pick up, and I can ship to people further out in the state.

Thanks guys.
So, do the Craigslist ad already! I gave you wording to start from. ;)

My CL ad is drawing several emails. I sold 8 bantam eggs this week and have some birds going on Saturday from the ad. Have got to set some cochin eggs for an order I got today. Busy, busy. :D

Hi Gina!! :D Good to hear from you!

Well drilling hasn't commenced yet, but we're hoping that it will by the end of April.

E and I just banged out a fast and simple silkie pen - the silkies have now been moved out of my hoop house and are in an on the ground pen with a dog box shelter. They are really enjoying the access to grass! Poor things hadn't seen daylight before coming to live here.

Blue Laced Red Wyandottes are going in the hoop house in a bit - as in after I have a cup of coffee to warm my bones!

Then I'll be doing the regular rounds of feeding and watering, and probably calling it a night.

Tomorrow is mine and Becca's first day at the feedstore with our chick days!

whoot!

Week day would be wonderful! TR is back on days starting tomorrow (the 11th) - so he will be working every other week-end once more. Just give me a shout when you have a planned outing and I will call Betty.

Good luck with Chick Days!! :clap

Um... :hide we didn't take any pics....

but we'll be sure to do that next Saturday! ;)

It went well today. We sold a good bit of the chicks, but not all of them. Still had a few that we brought home.

We have another 150 coming in this week for next Saturday, plus I'm running a few of the extras that are still here to Auction on Monday.

I think we are maybe going to run a Craigslist ad, too, to help us sell some of these chicks.

The first 15 minutes we were there, we sold 12 buff orps right off to a guy just getting into chickens. He asked a lot of questions to make sure he knew what he was doing.

Another guy came and bought 15 RIR. We sold some more BO and a few Partridge Rock to a lady who's going to be back when we have our SLW in. We also sold a couple mille fleur chicks to a gal who obviously didn't have a clue - period. We both had this bad feeling that those two little chicks would be goners by the end of the week.

Then an older couple came and bought both BO and RIR.

So, not a gazzillion customers, but enough to move almost half the chicks we had today. Not bad, if you ask me.

It was a long day, because after chick days we had a b-day party for DD here. Our Pastor and his wife and her sister came, FIL came, my parents came, and Becca came.

Then we had a surprise visitor - a customer to the farm! So there was a small interruption of the party while I conferred with my customer - who kept apologizing profusely for interrupting our party.

Anyway, they might be back to buy some silkies and a call duck (or trade a call duck for a Black Sumatra Hen).

Yep, I'm keeping the white/splash roo plus 2 black and 2 blue hens for him. I'm definitely going to try to hatch some out from them first, before offering hatching eggs or chicks from them, to see what quality/colors they produce.

I actually am hoping to sell enough silkie hatching eggs or chicks to invest in some better Splash Silkie stock from Cackle hatchery.

If ya'll haven't looked at Cackle hatchery, I'd suggest doing so! Their birds are gorgeous! Plus they have the best sampling of Gold Laced Cochin bantams I have seen so far! I think we are wanting some of those, too.

But, have to make the money out of the stock I have now to purchase new.

Working on it. lol
