My favorite guru is the old John Lyons. I am with Deb, if any help is needed just ask.

I am glad that you just walked her home instead of the awful trailer battles. I have witnessed FAR too many like the one that Deb describes. Then we wonder why so many horses are problem loaders. :/

When I bought a totally un-handled long yearling colt some years ago I was able to work a deal with the current owner and paid some board to keep him at her house until I had a chance to round pen him some and PROPERLY trailer break him. It was money well spent. Also the crowd that I drew just with his week worth of work sessions was darned good advertisement for my training sideline. ;) People didn't seem to believe that a horse could WANT to get into a trailer.
I heard John Lyons once at an Expo. And while I like his methods, he's not the greatest speaker. I fell asleep. :hide

I went to a two day clinic of his once. It was held in an indoor arena with a deep sand base. Lyons is a really bow legged guy. I spent a lot of the time just watching and waiting for his knees to pop out from under him while he struggled to walk around the arena! :gig

I am quite thankful that I got an opportunity to see Bright Zip in action. That horse was truly amazing.

I have been to see his son host a clinic, but I was just not as impressed. :(

The last couple nights dd has run a fever of around 100-101. It has gone away during the day and her only symptom has been being cold and having a headache. Right now she is running 101.5. I made her take a bath and some children's tylenol. I don't have a clue what is causing the fever, but if she is not better tomorrow I am going to take her to the doctor. The first day of it she was playing and said she had a headache. She seemed perfectly fine, but when I took her temp it was over 100. I thought then it was from having overly warm clothes on in a warm house, so I made her take off her jacket and sweater. Then she was just cold and her temp didn't drop at all. Now of course my imagination is going wild with what it could be. I had a friend whose granddaughter was diagnosed with leukemia and she told me then that the only symptom was a mysterious fever. I'm trying not to be too worried becuase I used to do the same thing as a child. I would run a high fever for no apparent reason at night and sometimes on weekends. I was diagnosed with allergies when my parents took me to the doctor and was put on shots. Since then I have heard that allergies don't cause fevers, so I don't know if that was the problem with me(and possibly her) or not.

Could just be the comings on of the flu....or dare I say it...strep. Check her throat..look for white dots, redness...even if she is not complaining about it. Hope she gets to feeling better soon!

When my daughter was young, she'd run a fever at times for no apparent reason. It was never for long, and would go away as quickly as it came.

LOTS of flu going around school here.

We have the headache, fever, body ache, "I am Crabby" flu.

The can't keep Sprite down and it is coming out of both ends FAST flu.

AND the "I can't swallow water my throat is too sore" strep flu.

No matter which she has, I hope she feels better soon. :hugs

Could she be cutting a tooth? My son just got his 6 yr molars in and he ran a bit of a fever for a few days before they broke through.

DD's fever went away! That was strange how she would only run it in the evening and no other time. She never got sick thank goodness. We all just got over the coming out both ends flu that we got on Christmas from dh's company party. It was really really bad.
I got some deer hides! Yea! Now I am trying my hand at tanning for real. One was pretty holeyand split down the back, so I divided it up into 2 pieces. One piece I brain-tanned or buckskinned and the other half I put in red oak bark . The braintan is quicker, and I had it soo soft. But there was just one stubborn piece that I couldn't soften up in the corner so I put the brain solution back on the heater to warm it and put the piece back in it to soak and FORGOT ABOUT IT until the next morning. I do this all in the greenhouse/barn/tannery. Nephews that we haven't seen in 2 years came over and I just flat forgot the hide until the next morning after it boiled all night. The dogs really enjoyed that treat. It smelled horrible. One of the others I tanned in red oak bark scraped from firewood with the hair on. I have on dried with the hair waiting for it's turn. The other half of the first I did hair off using wood ashes from the heater and it has turned into the most beautiful red leather. I am thinking of making dh a belt and knife case out of it if it turns out good.

I was going through the seed book and realized I don't know what the heck I'm doing. I have usually just gone to Wally World and bought some seeds that I recognized and went from there. Now I realize that I don't know the difference between a green bean, a dry bean, and a pea. I found winged beans, regular beans(is there such a thing?), fava beans, lima beans(I know what that is!), runner beans, long beans, bush beans, cow peas, and snow peas. Is a cow pea a pea or a bean? All I was looking for is some green beans and some beans for drying for chili or such and some english peas. Wouldn't ya know there is no listing for "green beans" or "dry beans" anywhere in the book! How do you know which is used as which? I should already know all this, but I will admit that I have usually avoided anything that I was unsure about. :hide Is a snap bean was the same thing as a green bean, which is also the same thing as a string bean?
