Its so handy to have you here!! So technically Im Jew nor gentile...Im christian, right?
Well, in Christian circles, yes, you are one who is now grafted into "The Commonwealth of Believing Israel"...

But, it wouldn't be prudent to call yourself "Jewish" in traditional Jewish circles. That wouldn't go over very well. Considering most Othodox consider us, "Messianic Jews" to be worse than Hiltler.

Hitler destroyed bodies, if what we believe is not true, we are detroying souls.

Of course, we KNOW who the Messiah is, and what He accomplished for us who trust in Him, our traditional Jewish brothers have yet to see Him as Messiah.
So you are basically a Jewish-Christian?

That is really awesome, I never knew that. But I do have a question...does it have to be specifically Judaism that the person believes and becomes part of, or is it the entire body of Christ, as in bible believer, not as in Baptist, Pentecostal, Presbyterian etc. To me those are just titles. I know it's more than that, but I'd be hard pressed to find a church that believes EVERYTHING I do around here in the sticks ;)
Since the NT teaches there is ONE L-rd, ONE faith,ONE Baptism, etc..

Ephesians 4:4-6 (
4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one L_rd, one faith, one baptism; 6 one G_d and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

I'd say the divisions between His children are really not what the Holy One had in mind.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v643/Rebbetzin/Email icons/2008 new icons/PickME.gifCan a Jewish Believer in the Messiah come to this Study? I hesitate to say things on most forums many times, because... We do not see the Holy One in OT and the teaching of the NT as being all that much different. So.. at times our Jewish interpretations of the Bible can be at "odds" with some traditional Christian interpretations due to cultural differences of the Jews and non Jews. We tend to look at things from a Jewish perspective.

So.. I just thought I would ask permission before I say anything that might not be what is common/traditional interpretation of some passages.

REbbetzin, I ask this with the utmost respect, but I am sincerely puzzled by this statement " Can a Jewish Believer in the Messiah come to this Study? How can this be? I was always of the understanding that Jews denied that Jesus was the Son of God and son of man. So, if a Jew believes in Jesus, isn't that contradictory? Are you not like Paul then?

Sorry guys for the slight hijack. I will not be able to resume serious study until after Sunday. My whole weekend is booked top to bottom. I really don; t want to miss the fruit of the spirit, so I wold ike it if you could slow things down a bit. But, I don't want to hold anyone else up.

ETA. REbbetzin, I really do appreciate you;re input into this. T see it from a Jews perspective is truly refreshening.

That is how I believe as well. Good to know it's not so crazy as some Christians make it sound when I try to explain that to them  I love everybody, no matter the title they hold or don't hold. I disagree with some, but agree to disagree. I love this study!!! Thanks again Rebbetzin for your insight!

She is a messianiac Jew, meaning she believes in Jesus as savior. In a way all of us non Jewish Christians descend from Paul's teachings and she descends from Peter's teachings. Peter taught to the Jews about Jesus while Paul taught to the Gentiles about Jesus. Did I make any sense?

So this means that since we believe that Christ is the savior we are the descendants of Abraham?
God promised Abraham that he would make his family very big 'until one day, your family will come to number more than even all the stars in the sky'

Guess that's us BB!

:clap

God sees no denomination, denominations are man made. Salvation thru Christ Jesus is not man made. Thats what my Sunday School teacher tells me.....
