I know this is not a big deal to most of you but we have not had a measurable rain in almost a year. We have had lightning and thunder and hail all morning.

I love it, my trees love it and my garden loves it. Whooo Hoooo!!!!!!

Monday

Wow, It's Monday, the last day ov November where does time go.

Our Stay-cation is officially over. My husband had taken the whole week off. It was either that or loose the vacation days. We started the holiday off by heading for the desert for a few days. The weather could not have been any better. The past few days we survived Turkey day, cleaned up the house and hung out doing not much of anything. It was wonderful. I convinced my dh to help me move furniture. This will allow us to put the Christmas tree as far away from the fire place as possible. Maybe it will last longer this way. We took all the Christmas boxes from the attic. Now I can putz around placing decor as I have time.

I woke up early this morning to see my husband off. Made his lunch etc... He has taken my car AGAIN!!! I was home Thurs and Fri of last week with out a car. Kinda a pain. His brake lights on his truck keep shorting out so we took it to a shop. It did not go in until Fri so with the holiday and all we hope it will come home tomorrow. I don't mind being home, I have been staying close to home anyways.

Did a bunch of canning Sat and Sunday. It was the perfect way to spend a cold rainy day. I made a bunch of broth/ stock. Canned another 6 quarts pasta sauce and the chicken I did on FRi. Not much but my cupboard is filling up. Yeah!!!

Well I am sure some of you may have seen that family on the news last week. The one who had their mortgage canceled by a judge. They have been fighting with One West/ Indy Mac bank over interest rates and Loan Modification. I wish I could say that was me but nope. I am fighting them tooth and nail though. They denied my modification. So I was on line and found a 1-800 help line and called. Turns out Indy Mac lied to me and I caught them. The credit counselor I spoke with made a conference call to them with me on the line and busted their butts. Now today I need to make a couple more calls and my modification should be pushed through. Wish me luck!!!

I guess it's time for me to get moving. Kids are up and ready for breakfast.

Have a great day!!

Tuesday Dec 1st

Well I just got off the phone with my sil. She is the one who is a PhD nurse and in the middle of being diagnosed with Celiacs Disease. Let me tell you this woman is a force to be reckoned with. If she puts her mind to something watch out. There is so much involved let me see if I can sum it up.

She has had auto immune problems forever. Been on several serious meds. There is so much more but it's a bit over my head. They are now relating most of her issues to the Celiacs.

My fil as vitiligo. So the belived all is inherited from his side of the family.

The other day sil went to a Celiac specialist and due to her symptoms she has been also diagnosed with ADHD. Inability to focus, etc.... (sound familiar)

Now working on finding out if her kids have celiacs. It manifest in different people different ways. One of her children is over weight, the other is skinny as a rail and always voraciously hungry. The skinny one has other food allergies and issues. The chunky one has almost the same school issues as my son. Inability to focus etc..

Maybe a bit worse because of her being a bit older.

The way she explained it to me is that the body has issues with blood circulation to the frontal brain because of the issues with the Celiacs. This causes children to have issues with focus and concentration. There is more to it but like I said it overwhelms me. She said adults don't have this problem because the have adrenalin and can power through and get things done.

So this is what we discussed this morning. She has put her foot down with the elementary school. All of our kids go to the same school. They are saying that her kids do not need to be tested and do NOT need help. She is fighting them on this because her daughter has major issues. I think it comes down to the cost of the test and the school not wanting to pay. Now she has an outside advocate group meeting with her and the school next week.

So where does this leave me. The school has been telling me my son is not far enough behind to test. Well the reason he is not behind is because I sit with him every day through excruciating hours of home work. Keeping him on task and guiding him through. My sil is telling me this is the exact opposite of what I need to do. She says I need to let him work on his own or the school will never see the true extent of his learning issues. Which I agree with but it is hard to let him fail. She recommends he work for 20 min per subject and draw a literal line on the paper. Attach a note and show the teacher what he is capable of doing on his own. She also says they can not punish him for not getting his work done. Our school has the kids sit out of 5 min of recess if work is not finished.

So now I need to go back to the school and to explain to them that I think we need to do things differently. That Robby does need testing and that if we don't do this now it will only further the problems into middle school etc.. Where I can't sit with him all day and hold his hand.

Whehhhh!!!!

So this whats going on in my family today. I guess the first step will be diagnosing them with the gluten allergy. They say not to stop eating if you want a true reading that is accurate. Then I will take the kids to a pediatric specialist to address their issues individually. My daughter has an appointment early next week for allergy testing. I will need to ask doc which way we should proceed for son.

And in the meantime deal with the school and try to keep things on track there.

Well anyways. I think I just needed toget that off my chest.

I am stuck home again dh has my car so I am going to go putter in the yard. I think that will make me feel better.

Have a great day!!

Good grief, isn't it crazy how things are all connected? I tutored my neighbor's son and when I first sat down with him to assess him (in math) I discovered through having a conversation about why he was having trouble and watching him do 3 math problems that he had a reading comprehension issue. Once they got him in a reading program at school his math grades improved. None of his teachers would take the time to listen to him and his mother. She told me that when she read the problems out loud to him he got all the answers right but when he got to school and had to read everything on his own he couldn't even finish the paper on time. Just another reason I will not let my kids enter that school system. Teachers are just too overwhelmed to do their jobs efficiently.

Kudos to her though, you too! Be persistent and don't back down! If you know in your heart that is what is wrong then don't let anyone tell you anything different! :rant
