 :yuckyuck Lori poison Ivy is not real common around here. I think they would know I did it on purpose. But I do have red jalapenos in the garden.

:hide

I was thinking of making her a couple cotton dish rags, but I know they would not be appreciated.

Jay, I am glad your package arrived safely. It is hard to chose colors not knowing peoples personalities. I would have chose the red too. It's my color. I also remembered you mentioned liking greens and browns. So I hope they fit. I guessed your head was not too fat. :D

It's funny that you mentioned a vest. I was trying to think of something to make my son for x mas. I suggested a vest and he almost died. He is 10.

Well lets see.......

Oct. 7th

Today is a beautiful sunny mid 70 day. Much better mood on me today. Thank goodness. I do think the sun really helps. Maybe because its Friday. Who's having the party tonight????

---- Made the first pocket for dd apron. It turned out soooo cute if I say so myself.
----- Mowed the lawn.
------ Pulled some weeds, picked last 3 spaghetti squash.
----- there are more zucchini on the bush. :barnie
------ Fed the turkeys. Geesh those suckers are getting big.
----- Had a nice chat with my cousin in Mo. She bought me a bunch of those onion bags I was looking for. She found them at the Amish auction. They should be here Monday.
---- Kitchen cleaned
------ family room and entry vacuumed
------- beds made

I think the last thing to do would be to get some laundry on the line and take advantage of this fine weather.

Well that is until the kids start coming home. We have a friend coming to play. I need to figure out a snack. Maybe address what the heck I am making or dinner.

Well got to get moving. I'll be back!!!!

So I finished one of my chicken pockets. I didn't quite follow the directions but I think it came out pretty close. I think I will make this apron for dd 7yo and just apply the pocked on the center chest. This apron is way to big for the 5 yo. So this is the pocket just laid on the apron, I still need to attach it. I also think I may darken the eyes. After seeing it in the pics they look a bit blah!!!

Thank you guys. I think they girls will realy enjoy these. Much better than just a blanket. They are always so excited. They are both the greatest helpers in the kitchen. I just have to make another for the 5yo. I think hers will be a rectangle for around the waist with a bib front. Much easier.

I just love this Sugar'n Cream cotton yarn. Such a great feel and so useful. I think I am going to d bath rugs next. :)

Tomorrow I am off to the farmers market to pick up my fermenting crock and the second crock I ordered for turkey food. I may decided to keep that one in the house as a fruit bowl or something. It might just be to nice for the turkeys.

Maybe I will look for fruit or veggies to can. I am definitely getting cabbage.

How sweet is that?! I had never considered crocheting aprons. I wear them daily. This got me to looking, I found some really nice ones for adults that use a #10 cotton thread. Lots of work, but really pretty!

Good morning world...

I Just got back from the local farmers market. I picked up my crock and bowl. I am definitely not using the bowl for the turkeys it came out way to small and not quite the shape I was hoping. Besides it's way to nice for the birds.

But the crock is perfect. He chose yellow as the color. Made a lid to fit and weights for the inside. The glaze is non toxic food safe.

It's so hard to tell the size. So here is it next to a quart jar.

These are the weights. The only question I have is that he did not glaze them. I know when using wood wights the Amish catalog says to coat them with mineral oil. Do you think I should do the same to the ceramic ones???? There are 3 sets, different thicknesses.

I am so excited to try it out. I bought 3 heads of cabbage while there.

Whoo Hooo!!! :weee

Wait, the best part. Did I tell you he only charged me 20.00 bucks for the crock???? I know I can't believe it.

Well off to make sauerkraut with caraway seeds.
