Too darn hot today, although at least there is supposed to be some breeze. But the house only got down to 75 F overnight and outdoor temps will be well into the 90s, plus which (the real kicker) although tomorrow will be cool, *tonight* it's still supposed to be 85 F at midnight. Every now and then I do *think* about buying a room-sized air conditioner... :p

So, today's kind of vague list, subject to change according to whether it's less unpleasant in vs out and how humid and how breezy it turns out to be:

-- as soon as I get off the computer (Real Soon Now), do some more weeding in garden to clear space for still-not-planted-yet beans DONE enough for today's purposes but I should do some more tomorrow

-- drive ~50 min to Oshawa (car a/c still won't shut off, how tragic! LOL) to immigration office to pick up my renewed pink card; buy new paint roller on the way home DONE

-- put primer+sand on dog agility boards DONE

-- when 6 yr old comes home from school, take kids to splash pad DONE

-- plant beans with the kids DONE

-- try not to die of heat prostration in house tonight LOOKING AUSPICIOUS (sev. small brisk storms cooled things off...)

Dishes and more dishes, mostly pots...pans...

I picked up 30 lbs. of pork neckbones from the grocery store yesterday that were supposed to be for the dogs. After I cracked open the case, I thought hey! There's too much meat on these things for those idiots, and with the price of meat, etc etc...and these were only $0.79 per pound. And they're a lot bigger than I thought they'd be!

So it was 100 outside, I have the oven cranked up high to brown 3 pans at a time, my two biggest stockpots on the stove, my biggest skillet with onions carmelizing and my biggest slow cooker going.

By 10:00 last night I ended up with 7 quarts of concentrated stock with pork in the freezer, BBQ pork in the frig for supper tonight and the first batch of bones in the slow cooker for bone broth destined to be dog chow...maybe, maybe not.

What a pain. There wasn't as much meat on them as I thought! And I'm pooped. Company is coming this afternoon so I can't just sit on my rear. A shower would be nice, too. I smell like a Chinese buffet. :/

I rose at 5:30am this morning, because I kept dreaming about things that needed to be done...and I really wasn't pleased about that. :p

I have a party I'm planning next month, a "Xmas in July" kind of thing, so I'd like to have the house habitable enough for guests. My general to-do list will be as follows:

-Clean the kitchen benches
-Sweep/mop if needed all lino floors (kitchen, bathroom, loo)
-Figure out why the vaccuum won't suck
-Vacuum once I fix it
-Reorganize my kitchen cupboards to make things neater
-Clean the oven
-De-cobweb this place, before it looks overly haunted

The things I want to do today will follow:

-Wash the dishes One pan, a crock pot, a cutting board and I'm done. Relief!
-Clean the bread machine
-Tidy the dining area a bit

Let ya know how it goes. :)

Thursday's list (supposed to be milder weather):

-- call next door, see if kids free to play with mine after school DONE (they came over before dinner)

-- tidy up enormous pile of misc clothing now occupying corner of bedroom from when I was desperately trying to find a reasonably-presentable pair of shorts to go to the immigration office in, this morning (never did, went dressed as "painting/gardening woman", oh well) DONE - now I have 2 nice prs shorts plus 4 pairs that should not be worn in public, mostly very-cutoff jeans

-- move sheep electronet!!! DONE!

-- take son to early years for a little while DONE

-- remove weeds from at least half of remaining part of veg garden MOSTLY DONE, back too tired to do any more

-- hill up potatoes (again!) with chicken compost this time maybe 40% done

-- sort out salvageable lumber from pile from old deck teardown, move to fencelines that need further sheep-proofing, nail or screw in place (HALF DONE)

-- remove extraneous blobs of wrecked chickenwire etc from same pile (DONE, also weeded underneath)

-- mow some lawn if grass is dry enough no -- it's been sprinkled on, plus neighbor kids coming over instead

-- do some stuff with dog, including working on installing a retrieve as I think I've got to the point where I can't dance around that anymore

1. Replace fence post I broke, then finish fencing that section.

2. Put in big post for last corner.

3. Mow some for RU.

4. Put away clothes

5. Clean more of the house.

So. Most of the dishes done, and some areas cleaned up that were particularly bad, but right now, my back is killing me, so I think I'm going to call it a day. I did well enough to say that I was up doing something at least. Also, baking soda is my new favorite cleaning agent. :D

I didn't get any of that done. It was too hot. Instead, I did something that was even worse! I unloaded 11 RBs off of a wagon, and either put them out, or stacked them for the winter. Now I'm trying to stay awake, and not having much luck.

So for tomorrow, this is my to do list:

1. Replace fence post I broke, then finish fencing that section.

2. Put in big post for last corner.

3. Mow some for RU.

4. Finish rest of fencing.

5. Put hydrant in field.
