Your sandwich would dry out in a cloth bag or wrapped in a cloth napkin, especially if you use homemade...or good storebought...whole wheat bread with no preservatives.

I did switch to waxed paper, then realized it is made with petroleum products, even that sold by big fake organic stores.

I think you've all ruled out almost everything except wood..

Wooden sandwhich boxes? :gig

I really liked the round stainless steel bins that someone posted.

Do any of us actually mind dry sandwhiches?

I don't use mayo on sandwiches if I'm packing them anyway. Soggy bread is yucky unless it's bread pudding. Then its yummmm :drool
What about those steel containers? Anybody try them yet?

About Christmas time, there are those gift tins everywhere and some are small enough to use for sandwiches although I would use paper to line them anyway. Just a thought.

Hmmm- if you made small, crusty bread rolls for sandwiches, they would last well even if wrapped in cloth.

Mineral Oil????? It is supposed to be food safe, but it is a petroleum bi product. I use food grade on my butcher block. It is a laxative so you would not want to eat your sanwich bag!!!

You know I think I figured out how to solve this problem with keeping our sandwiches fresh. Skip them. Let's not eat sandwiches any more. Most of us really don't need the extra carbs.

Wouldn't that just simplify everything??? If you must eat bread take the crusty roll like someone suggested earlier.

I do like the little metal tins. They are sturdy and are so easy to clean.

I tend to bring finger foods and salads when I have to pack a cold lunch. Chopped or shredded salads are easiest to eat. Cheeses, nuts, raw veggies with or without dip, fruit, yogurt with fruit, cold chicken, devilled eggs, etc. More fun than a sandwich, anyways! More colorful, too.
