I didn't wire funds to a scammer in the UK posing as my stranded friend.
:thumbsup Smart going! Here's to the scammers :smack :tongue
This has been happening A LOT lately...there was a news story about it a while back. Be careful. If your friend asks you for money online, make sure you know it really is them asking for it before you even contemplate sending it.

I called her immediately. (even though she claimed to have lost her phone to the robbers.)

If I didn't get an answer the next thing I was going to do was to start quizzing her about personal things only she would know. Heck, I could have asked "what is your husband's name?" and they probably wouldn't have known.

A week ago So had the opportunity to shoot some turkey and got one. We cleaned the hen and she was just over 9 lbs. SO had used his new crossbow. The person whose property he hunted on was very pleased and has asked him to come back. The turkeys are roosting in his trees and are making one he!! of a mess.

For thanksgiving we tried to use as much home grown and or homemade produce as possible. The wild turkey came out great. I made cornbread using our corn. We had lots of carrots from the garden among other things. The parts of the turkey that we do not care for are being made into dog food. Today I will be making turkey soup.

Yesterday was DD's wedding. We used pumpkins from our garden for decor. It was an outdoor wedding in a local park. It was a good thing we used the pumpkins, because there were some fierce wind gusts and the pumpkins held down the tablecloths
DD also saved money on her wedding dress by doing the alterations herself with the help of a friend and myself. It turned out beautifull.
By the way the reservation for the space in the park was $44.00. Can't beat that. Another friend is a minister and performed the ceremony. The wife of a coworker made the wedding cake at cost. Her stepbrother was the photographer, a friend of her father's played the guitar for the music part.
With the help of family and friends, we had a wonderfull wedding at under $1000.00, the budget the couple had set for themselves.

Told mom I wanted a pressure canner for christmas, sent her the info for one that someone on SS posted at amazon for $75.00.
I got it yesterday :weee :weee :weee
FILhad brought over a whole lot of meat yesterday as well, guess we'll be canning up some meat this weekend. There is no room in the freezer!!

SO finally convinced his dad to get the chimney checked out. It will be cleaned and brought up to code next week. We'll be able to have a fire in the house and get warm. :weee

BTW The houses (2) that SO's sister will be inheriting have been repaired, brought up to code and are in great condition. The house (1) that SO is inheriting and that he lives in, is falling apart!!! Every time we bring something up, he rolls his eyes and doesnothing. His sister hints at wanting something and it is done! :barnie

Anyhow, I am so glad that we will soon be able to make a fire in the house and get warm. We have plenty of free firewood available to us.

Ate one of the free ducks that I got off of CL. Read my 'Joy of Cooking' cookbook, which told me to remove the breasts and prepare them separately, pan-searing them and serving them rare. Did so, with a gravy made from the drippings of the rest of the duck, which was slow-cooked in the oven with a white wine sauce. OMG, you guys!!!!!! I had no idea that duck breasts cooked this way would taste exactly like a good beef steak. Holy Wow! This was one of the best dinners ever. I'm hoping that Santa brings me an incubator so that I can hatch out some more of these guys. I held back a Cayuga drake and two females, and three Pekin females, and an IR drake. Seriously, if you haven't tried duck like this before, I would soooooo recommend it. I've had duck many times, but not like this. Pan-seared breasts served rare is the way to go!
