She is my mother!!!  :gig Years ago my children started calling her "The Old Bat" and the name sort of stuck and turned into a private joke. I even designed her some return address labels with bats on them and she will even write The Bat in on the return address when she is out of labels.

I just know there are folks that hear my kids call her that and cringe but she thoroughly enjoys it and even gives out bat bites instead of kisses! :D We really do :love her!

Aha! I get it now :D
Our family has a few similar things floating around. My grandad was "Grumpy"...that one got us some weird looks.

My FIL is Beenie to his grandchildren, a mutation of his last name.It sounds a little odd coming out of my nephew who will be 18 next week and is 6 feet tall.

My Dad was Elmer Fudd to all my cousins and their kids. They even got him cartoon socks and things like that.

Henrietta, I simply LOVE your new avatar! :D
Thank you! Visit my goat thread for the explanation.
I have a student who thinks his father's name is really Clark Griswold. Someone started calling him that due to similarities to the National Lampoon character. This poor kiddo is way too literal to realize it's a joke.

Son #2 completed the hive body of my TBH today! :celebrate Just under the wire, too....I am a great procrastinator, so my projects are often completed right before they are needed. :p

He promised to build it for me for my MD present, so I let him. He didn't follow my directions but it still came out very nice and well done. I'm pleased! I'll post pics as soon as I can and before I paint it.

I have to add the top bars and he is going to put my top on hinges with folding legs that drop down to support it when it's open and so I can use it for a work station if needed. His idea....great guy, that boy! :love

Should be getting my bees any day now! :weee

Pics of my half barrel top bar hive body...sans top bars...and unpainted, but still far on its way to becoming my very first bee hive.

This is without the tin roofing top. The entrance was drilled into the screw off plug and is situated between where the legs meet. With the tin top on it, there is an overhang of approx. 4 in. over the entrance.

This is the hive with the topper open and converted to a temporary work station.

Any of you experienced beeks know if red is not a good color to paint a hive? :hu

Sent the loaner ram back to the farm today and brought home one of his daughters...she looks a lot like him and seems to be very sweet. She is due to have lambs in mid-June and is already bagging out and swelling around the vulva.

We named her Little Moe Money (Dad's name is Big Moe). She is a full blood Katahdin bred to a Dorper and this will be her first lambing and the very first lambs born on Sweetwater Farm. :weee

Putting in the garden this week...finally! Has been very wet and cool here.

Hope everyone is well and as busy as I have been...tis the season! :)
