Remember a few years ago when I popped the camper shell off of the chicken coop and me and hubby went campin'? MAN it would be a great if we could all get together like that.

Maybe next year we can get a SS gathering. We came SO close this year - next year should be a sure thing!

As OFG knows, cus she's been so sweet to encourage me, I'm there too with you, Bee.

Nothing to do, no career to mold, no long term or short term goals, had lots of plans of crafts for decades for when I wasn't working anymore - now that I'm here - I'm bored, depressed, and disatisfied, and can't pull myself up by the bootstraps to get it going..... Now that we're running outa money, I'll have to go back to work, but that's not my solution either.

Running away - I want to do that too, but on my own. No DH, no dogs or cat, just me and me and me.

No solutions in the near future, but its a comfort to know someone else is in the same mood.
I feel a lot like that too. No "umph" to get up and get

"My get up and go has got up and went"

I keep dreaming about jumping in my car with a few essentials and maybe a goat or two ;) and hitting the road. Stopping at you'alls places for a few days, helping out, sharing tall tales and moving on to the next one...

Maybe it's the economy of the world and the uncertainty we live in, but I feel antsy and lethargic at the same time.

I could use some vitality and enthusiasm. Or visitors who appreciate what I am trying to do and will give me a jump to get my engine going again.

Bee, if you feel like taking a drive, our weather has been cool here, the coolest in more than 20 years, but nice in the middle of the day, we'd love to have you!
I think you all are having our heat ;)

For me it brings back lots of good memories. I had a best friend named Dave when I was a little kid. Met him when we were in Kindergarten. That song always reminds me of listening to records at Dave's house in the summertime.

Denise, I would love that! Cali is a long way but I would sure love to make the trip!

Farm, it takes me back to the halcyon days of long summers and the bright colors of the 70s.

When bikes were actually comfortable because they had banana seats and curved handle bars so that you could ride sitting up.

When folks were healthier, kids played outside all day, there were only 3 channels on the TV and you had to change them by hand. All the channels went off the air at midnight.

We would always have a pick up game of wiffle ball, softball or baseball. King of the Hill, Red Rover, Freeze Tag, Hide and Seek after dark, swimming in the river. When I was a kid we played make believe for hours upon hours. We collected things. We rarely used the phone as it was for adults.

Ice cream that tasted like ice cream and pop that didn't leave an aftertaste in your mouth....it actually quenched your thirst! And you could collect the bottles and make some money. And candy was BIG back then..and it tasted great! Real sugar instead of HFCS.

When you never bought cat or dog food...they ate table scraps only...and they were incredibly healthy and lived for a long time. Imagine that!

All the best music was in the 60s and 70s..bar none. It was fresh and inventive and you could dance to it...there was no one that was remaking an old song. The songs they wrote told stories and they were great!

The vehicles were made to last and gas was cheap.

When little girls wore pony tails and little boys did not. Schools were very structured and we actually learned, played outside at recess and we played structured games that encouraged teamwork. We got rewarded for good work and good behaviour, punished for bad. We washed our hands right in the classroom before meals and after recess. Our desks were in rows and our books were kept under them...not in book bags~of which there were none.

Oh, the innocence of those days...I'd like to have bottled it and dispensed it to my own children!
