Thanks, Sis! I needed that! I guess that makes prepping a moot point, huh? You are absolutely right....walk on faith and you will be floating a foot above the ground.... :)

I am still listening for my purpose.....God's voice has faded and now I am unclear. I am trying to pray more and listen better. Like you I feel a disconnect right now.
I know it feels like that and I truly can empathize with that feeling but the Bible says that God will never leave us and He stands outside the door and knocks. I think we just get so distracted by the things of this life that we fail to hear sometimes.

Especially when we are feeling anxious or depressed....our mind whirls with thoughts of why, how, who until we can't even sleep at night!

I think these are the times we should pray more and listen more closely for guidance....and these are just the times when I try to fix it by myself or wallow in self-pity or sit around in a stupor with my thoughts going a million miles an hour......anything but praying and listening! :/

I guess I'm a slow learner as this always seems like the pattern for me....finally, when I've exhausted all my strength, heart, and soul...only then do I seem to reach out to God and listen for those comforting messages of Grace.

When will I learn? I guess this is why God is still giving me lessons.....can't learn unless we have problems to solve, lessons to learn, positive results for doing the proper thing.

Dace...at least we aren't a total loss...at least we know we should be hearing something, some guiding from the Holy Spirit, some touch of divine wisdom and comfort. Some folks go all their life thinking they are masters of their own lives! :p

I am over my blue funk! We got a good, cold rain the other day that banished that looming, sullen sky and, though we are still in the 90s every day, the blue sky and white fluffy clouds are back.

Thank the good Lord for that! :D

I opened up my garden and let the sheep have their way...it was cathartic to let that depressing, barren weedlot provide SOME nutrition to some creature.

Got my second wind and will do better now...thank you all for listening to my high pitched whining!

I have been getting a little excited over an event we are having at work during the local Treasure Mountain Festival. A one day mini spa!

We are having a little fundraiser and will be selling amateur manicures, pedicures, facials, detox wraps, tune up massages(NOT so amateur), my handmade soaps, lotions, scrubs, bath salts, oatmeal bath mix, etc.

I am designing the fliers and signage and decorating the front of the building for that day and I think getting to create has helped me get over this depression I was in.

I'm also organizing the event, so this has helped get my mind off the youngest son leaving this Sunday for military training.

The boys and I have been spending good times together, going to the movies and eating out.

I met the youngest's new girl friend and heartily approve! She is beautiful, intelligent, mature and practical....seems very strong. Likes to can, learn to preserve foods, farm, etc. She is attending a very good college to become a registered nurse. Has a job. Loves her grandma.

How in the world HE got her is beyond our imaginations!!!

Sure hope he can hold onto this one...... :p

Anyhoo...just wanted to update my guest house thread with the good news that a fresh wind has been blowing and the cobwebs are definitely being blown out! :D

Well Bee, if nothing else you have someone to replace your youngest son if he can't keep her around.

BTW, did you get my pm the other day?

Yeah, I did....posted you a link to the person's blog site! :)

I would dearly LOVE to have some of your sweet corn! Mine is pretty bad. :p

The pumpkins didn't get very big but I have more than I had thought I would with this horrible drought. Funny thing...none of the counties around mine were listed as being offical drought stricken counties...they all got rain this season and we didn't. Weird to drive into the next county and see emerald green grass and fields.

Glad to hear the sun is shining on you again.
I hate it when I get into a funk and can't find my way out :(

Having Faith always keeps me going. ;)

Sounds like a fun event you are involved in. I love doing that kind of creative thing, especially bennefits. It totally gets you outside of yourself. What a great pick-me-up. :weee

Its going to be pretty...I'll try to get pics! Our office is pretty bare bones and doesn't have much curb appeal as we are nonprofit with a low budget and we never have time to do anything to make it prettier.

We are using two little girls, daughters of two of our nurses, to be hostesses and serve cookies while people wait. They will wear little sundresses and tiaras that light up! It will be cute! :D

I found some white towels at a yard sale and most of the nail painting supplies were bought at the Dollar Tree. All the employees are going to bring in all the nail polish they possess..... :p

My boss is not a girly-girl so she is not real into this....plus she sort of lacks imagination, so she is hesitant to be enthusiastic about it...I think she feel it won't generate any money.

SHE suggested a bake sale....first of all, none of use are great cooks. I can make some great homemade bread but, lets face it, bake sales don't make a killin'.

We don't have any good salons in our town and the nearest one is 50 miles away...and this is all in good fun. We don't want to open a shop or anything....its just a day. If its successful we would like to do another one day spa before Christmas and sell some gift baskets and gift certificates for the next one.

Where else can you get a mani/pedi for $15? And a 15 min. tune up massage for $10?

And...its for a good cause! :D

I think it is a great idea!! And should be fun for everyone. Like you said, it is not like you are even trying to be professionals and opening up a shop or anything.
I think it has great potential to do well. I like that it is something different too.

I think I need a tune up! This first week of school was for the birds. Too bad you are not closer.
