This afternoon, we're supposed to go out to the farm and work on insulating my tack shed and getting the doors off the stalls so I can put them up properly and get the new ones on. But, I have a feeling he's not going to go. :somad

WHAT?!? After you made the sacrifice and went with him yesterday? That stinks!

By Tuesday, here, it's supposed to be 40 degrees! :woot Break out the t-shirts and shorts!! But we have to hurry up and enjoy it I guess, cuz they're calling for a high of 20 by Thursday! Ugh. I have two classes to get to tomorrow, both quite a distance away from here/each other, and we're supposed to get freezing rain in the am, turning to just rain - I'm looking out the window at a foot of snow. Snow on the ground+rain= :barnie yucky slush mess for driving.

I feel for ya! We only got a couple of inches of snow. But, they didn't touch our road, so it's a sheet of ice right about now. And, this isn't the first time that's happened. They're calling for rain tomorrow, which should get rid of it. Otherwise, I'd be tempted to take the ashes from my wood stove and dump them in the road-especially at the corner! I've slid into the intersection B4.

The county is really good about putting down sand at the intersections here, thank goodness. The intersection closest to us is blind (top of a hill - no line of sight in either direction, really) Not so great about keeping the roads plowed though. I don't have issues with it - my beast can get through most anything and, after a bit, the snow packs down. The Malibu stays parked most of the winter though - when you hit the end of the driveway and start plowing snow, best just pull it back in and park it :p

Well, it got above freezing today, so we did have some melting of the ice on the road. And, as expected hubby never made it out to the farm. DD showed up, so we didn't go. He's promised me, though, that we'll go out on Saturday after my 4-H meeting.

And, I didn't get the wood all done. I didn't feel like doing any of it, but they're calling for rain tomorrow so I HAD to do some. I got enough wood done to last until Tuesday. And, if they're wrong about the weather, I'll finish the wood tomorrow. But for now, it's covered up by a tarp.

Well, they were right about the weather. We didn't get a lot of rain, but it was nasty out. It wasn't overly cold, but that air had that raw feeling to it. So, I had no desire to be out in it. I stayed in my tack shed for awhile working on 4-H stuff. I had to go out to the insurance agent and was going to go, then come back. But, I changed my mind. Instead, I fed Stormy real early, went to the agent, then went home! Fed the goats and the bunnies, then hid in my house the rest of the day. Today is supposed to be nicer, so I'll get caught up on some stuff outside today. Tomorrow, they're calling for rain, but it might not get here until late. So, I'm not sure what all I'll be able to do tomorrow. I'm hoping to get another load of firewood. If it's going to rain early, I'll go this afternoon to get it. If it's going to rain late, I'll go first thing in the morning to get it. Then, I'll store it uncut in my wood shed until I have a chance to cut it up.

Today was so much warmer that I was about ready to break out my shorts. Well, not really, but it did get above freezing-in fact it got up into the 50s! I was able to start my mower, and dump the manure that was in the cart. Then, I went in the field to clean it. Well, there was about 1/2 to 1" of mud on top of the ice and when I was done, I went to drive out of the field. But, I couldn't get any traction! So, I had to unhook my cart so I could get the mower out. The cart is still sitting there. I just didn't have the time to try and get it out. I'll do that tomorrow. I'm figuring I can hook a strap around it and hopefully, be able to pull it to where I can hook it back up, then clean the field again and take it out and dump it.

I stopped at the hay auction this morning. They also sell eggs, so I dropped of 4 dozen. I don't know how much I'll get for them, but something is better than nothing. And, I'm getting low on feed, so that will help offset the cost. So far, I haven't had much luck getting a steady customer base.

I was able to cut up enough wood to fill the wood holder in the basement and still have more wood outside. Only problem being, even w/it covered w/a tarp, it's still wet. So, I'm having trouble burning it. I had to add some pine to the stove to get the fire going good. As much as I hated to do that, it was better than just letting it smoke. And, they're calling for more rain on Wednesday afternoon! :barnie So, I'm planning on getting a load tomorrow morning, then covering it w/the tarp. If I have any that really feels dry, I might put it in the wood shed w/out cutting it up completely so I can fill the wood holder downstairs again.

Ah, don't you love the January thaw?! We had warm weather today - 50+ - but it was very spooky out. Reminded me of that movie 'The Mist' - such thick fog you couldn't see 5 feet in front of you!! Pouring rain now, and flooding, with a FOOT of snow expected by the weekend and highes of 16 degrees  These weather changes are giving me whiplash!!

I'm always glad when I see those types of storms coming thru that I DON'T live where they're expected to hit! Most snow we've had this year has been about 3". I'm fine w/that. :D

Last week, we were in the single digits at this time. Right now, it's in the 40s! I so want spring.
