Somehow I just knew it was a trick question  But I'd still argue for trying to save them all. I'd hate to make a choice like that as to who is more deserving of treatment since I figure what someone's done has little to do with who they really are.
Who knows, maybe the cop is a killer or terrorist hiding behind the badge, the drug addict is really in his own kind of prison of pain, the prisoner maybe wrongly accused, the obese woman (50lbs or 500lbs) could have been a patient of the doctor that gave her meds/treatment to make her fat as some kind of Dr Frankenstien experiment. That leaves the 5 yo girl, who I would save and take home as the daughter I never had.

Seriously though with this type of injury, there will be a long recoup time and alot of "nursing" back to health so really none would be much help or even conscience for atleast a week or more. So I'd probably go with the 5yo and prisoner, since both are otherwise healthy and I'm basing it on ability to recover the fastest with the least amount of problems. Unless of course the prisoner has AIDS from Bubba in the next cell or is a rapist or psycho woman hater-then he dies. The drug addict, DR and obese woman have existing health issues that hinder recovery and a 40 yo policeman is probably not in the greatest health either and/or has atleast seen better days that would also jepordize recovery.

Unless of course FC conveniently "forgot" some other very important information.......

It's one of those no correct answers scenarios. These are typically designed to get you thinking but also not reading too much into the scenario. You just have to able to defend your own choice.

I know....it cuts back on "who might make it and who wouldn't and potatoe chips were all destroyed in the disaster...only got Doritos..will it work still?

LOL

the scenario is everyone is equal in their injury
everyone comes in at the same time to triage
everyone is the same all needing the 2 medical supplies to save them
rest die
who to choose

all is equal except who they are or how they are preceived

but hey I might even think about taking both supplies at that point and going home. if only 2 supplies are left, I might need them. I might take the Doritos also. haha
In that case, I'd definately take the Doritos and any strong meds in the supplies. Let them all fend for themselves :gig

:yuckyuck

that had me laughing..LOL

yup all about their "title" equals how they might be preceived and are they worth saving

Dr. could be in 50 malpractice suits and a lousey dr.

cop could be on the take and as crooked as a criminal

kid probably is the only one with innocence at this point

mom, who knows what her 4 kids are like--maybe all have severe medical problems that need to be dealt with,,,so is she a liability carrying around 4 unhealthy kids

prisoner--white collar crime...stole some IRA money from a client due to hard times (would he be great for stealing water, food supplies from other groups if needed to survive.

drug addict--convicted for being at a party and happend to have drugs in his car along with users...maybe he didn't do it, maybe he was railroaded in this wonderful justice we have today???

etc

or is everyone as good as they can be. the best of the best with tons of good to offer?

Or do you say---take all the supplies you can and run for the hills to your own family at this point?

because does saving any of them help you in any way...or is it just a moral thing to save people if you have the means?

I don't know for me yet....I am still thinking a bit about how I would react.

life is easy for me. i have no social mores. i already know it's all about me and my survival.

so if they'd help me survive, i'd heal them. sucking chest wounds... you are all on your own.

Well, I figure if I couldn't turn a blind eye on two near dead chickens(one ripped open from dog attack, the other some kind of illness effecting neurology-I think but not sure :hu ) that I've nursed back to somewhat health, I wouldn't turn a blind eye to any of these people. Thats why I said I'd do what I can for each of them and leave the rest to God, cause dammit, nobody dies on my watch if I can help it! :hide
