I wish you all a happy day! I'm starting to do my last minute cooking while watching the Macy's parade. The previews stated Arlo Guthrie would be taking part. Hmmmm, that I've gotta see!

ETA: He was just one with his daughter and they sang "This Land is Your Land".

Happy Thanksgiving H23!
Thanks FC!! Same to you!
Got the "Mock Pop Tart" in the oven. Breads from Anna GF pie crust spread into a rectangle, spread with strawberry jam and topped with another rectangle of dough. DS will have a dessert he will love!!

Aw thanks Gina! He's going to spend the day with my dad and I'll just keep my cell phone on and close by.
Hey Deb! Thanks for stopping by. We had a great Thanksgiving. Dinner was at my parents' and Mom did a great job with our million dollar CSA heritage bird. She's not known as a superb cook so I was a little concerned she'd cook the stuffing out of it... so I 'fessed up and asked her how she planned to do it. Then reminded her how I'd done it last year. Phew! Disaster averted!!
Then we went to our priest and his wife's house for dessert. Another couple of friends were there and we all had fun playing Guestures and eating pie (or pumpkin custard in my case-yum! That one's a keeper!!)
Today we drove to Westchester Cty NY to my in-laws house. Our nephew was up from Princeton and we hadn't seen him in a year and a half since they didn't come out for Christmas last year. DS had a great time playing with him. You'd never know there was a 10 year difference between them. We had a nice visit and MIL didn't freak this time that I brought our own food. She thought she got it right (as in GF) by making veal parmisan. With breaded veal cutlets. Sigh. I've known the woman 21 years and she can't remember that I don't eat veal, or that DH, her son, doesn't eat green olives. At least she wasn't upset when I fixed my own plate. When we saw them this summer she got all embarassed that I couldn't eat what she'd made. So today all was well and I didn't starve. DH did a few chores outside with nephew and his dad. MIL was happy. FIL looks great for a 91 yo guy who almost died 3 months ago. He still gets tired but if I didn't know he'd been so sick, I'd never have guessed. He's lost some weight and muscle tone but he's working on getting it back on. He didn't have any spare weight to lose, the stinker. Built just like his son.
Glad to be home for two days. I've a stinker of a cold brewing. I just hope I didn't infect everyone else. Sigh, can't win.

I've known my SIL longer than I've known my hubby, and she STILL can't remember that I can't drink caffeinated coffee, so I know how you feel.
