Annnddddd I just got a text from the landlords daughter, D, asking me if i was going to be around tomorrow. She texted back after I sent her my schedule and asked if i could help her feed her two horses here. She has the other half of the barn and the other big pasture here and since my boarders are leaving she's putting the two fat ponies in with storm and giving the two older horses an alfalfa bale, plus going to feed them more. She offered to pay me, though on principle I'm going to try to refuse because she had helped me out a lot. I expect she'll insist if I know her.

Ahh crap. I was going to use the beef I had thawed to make tacos tonight but I just looked and there was a tiny tear in the package and more it is a funny color around that spot. Boo! Now I'm trying to speed thaw another pound but I'm not sure how effective it Will be. Of course it's 8:15 and the bf isn't on his way home yet and he has a half hour of travel to do so I guess I'll be fine. I hate to waste it though. Think I can feed it to the cats?

Today has not gone as planned, but it could be worse.
For starters I wrote up with a sore throat. Guess I now have the bfs cold. I was moving a little slower than I wanted this morning but I guess it was a good thing. I was putting the dog back in the kennel outside when I noticed the horses looking excitedly over the fence in the direction of my other friends farm. I realized there were two unfamiliar horses standing on the lawn between the two properties. I called my friends to all four help and when she didn't answer I called my ex to get her husband's number since I didn't have it for some reason. About the time my ex answers the phone I saw my friends come around the corner of their house. I grabbed a halter and climbed the fence and was able to catch the palimino mare. The chestnut was an Arab and seemed more prone to dancing around. Thankfully I had granted the boss horse and so the Arab mostly came with us, except for when she got distracted by my friends not horses. My friend's husband shooed her on and I got them into their extra pasture. By that time my friend called 911 and they were able to notify the owners who had Been looking for an hour already. I wouldn't have even thought to call 911. The owner came shortly and picked them up and walked them home. Come to find out it appears that someone slid on the road and hit the fence in the night. They were not much more than a Mile from home, but the amusing part was that the owner had driven back into the driveway where they ended up not 20 minutes before they were there. Glad that situation was taken care of easily!
Stopped by the farm so S could show me theroutine for dealing with the chickens in the cold before they go out of town this weekend. We chatted about the upcoming year and his plans and what I would have the time for so I feel good about that. I'm looking forward to being on the farm again. I miss it.
So I'm finally home eating breakfast and drinking hot honey lemon which feels so good on my throat. I'll relax for a but before I go Take care of my ponies, and I don't know that I will get much else done. I have to go back to my friend's place one more time this afternoon, but that is it. I'm glad that Will be some and Thanks that I don't start the chickens until tomorrow night, which means I can sleep in tomorrow!

Gotta love large random stray animals lol! We get cows meandering aimlessly through our yard a lot around here.

Too funny. We are leaving the bfs parents one might and the old cow had wandered just out of the break in the fence and onto the edge of the road, the bf got out if the car and yells at the cow to get back in there and in he went lol
Just got up from a short nap that was not as restful as I hoped and am sucking down another mug of hot honey lemon, and now I need to go feed my horses and chat with D about her needs for her old horses and then head back to my friend's to feed her animals one last time. Then I'm crashing again. I really wanna make biscuits to go with leftover soup tonight but I don't know if I can muster it.

I'm still feeling drug out myself.

A few years ago, I rounded up a horse for the state police. No one knew who it belonged to. We did finally find out-they left their gate opened-and I ended up walking it home. There was no one else there that had any idea of how to handle a horse.

When i feel like that I just make one single huge biscuit and cut it like cornbread. I actually like it better that way sometimes, and it cuts the prep time for us lazy and/or sick folks. Me, mostly it's just being lazy or pressed for time when I do that, but we all love it :)

Hgood idea wbf. I don't know what I'll do. I'm nursing my third mug if hot honey lemon which makes my their feel better. I plan to take oregano tonight too and hope I'm not awake to burp it. Blech!
I guess I'm going to relax and read for a bit until the bf is on his way home and I figure out How much energy I'm going to put into dinner.

Didn't get to the biscuits. We ate garlic pita chips with the soup instead. That tasted pretty good.
We went to bed pretty quick after that but I didn't sleep well. First it was storm and spirit playing over the fence and squeeling right outside the window that had me worried one of them was going to go through the fence. And after that it was just the sore throat that kept me tossing and turning the rest of the night.
We have a lot to do today but the bf is making me stay in bed. We have to pick his jeep up from being repaired, clean up the borrowed jeep as part of the Thank you, get the house picked up, clean the chinchilla cage, work on the hay feeders, lock the chickens up and collect eggs at dark, and there is probably something else I'm forgetting.
Hopefully all the hot honey lemon and the oil of oregano that I took last night will kick this quick because I have too much to do!
